No, I’m saying what did you expect him to say in response to that question? His season was still ongoing and he was about to play for a national championship. People can have priorities that change. People are not static. I put exactly zero credence into that quote. Not saying he ends up at Texas, but we have absolutely no insight into his thought process, whether he grew up as a Texas fan, whether he’d like to play in front of his hometown. We have no idea if Texas throws him a bag and dramatically outbids Indiana and how that could affect his decision. So to categorically deny that it could happen simply because of a quote he gave to a stupid question asked by the biggest hack of all Texas beat writers at an inopportune time seems silly to me.

Some coaches are ahead of the curve. Despite all that is happening in college sports with NIL, Portal, strength of schedule, buying teams, stacking talent, this guy figured it out. This is why I don’t like “ well in this sport it takes three years of four years”. This guy did it in two years! Stop telling us it takes more time. And it’s not like they had a horrible season last year. This is no fluke. They were good last year. Please stop with the it takes time to build, well this is a different school…hear way too much of that in football and basketball.

You can’t take away a thing he’s done, and he truly worked miracles. I said on another thread this looks a lot like what DeBoer did at UW during his two years there on steroids. Kept a ton of 5th and 6th year guys together with some great portal adds. Time will tell if he’s created the next monster or if it was a miracle like FSU had going a couple of years ago until their QB got hurt. Most likely something in between.

Yep, it would be problematic. IU received some good news with LT Carter Smith intending to return. If Lynch stays, IU will return 3 O-Line starters + the addition of Brunner. If Lynch leaves it's more than a small problem.

Ruh-roh. I mentioned several times it's unlikely Indiana's Lynch would transfer, as he's likely slated to transition from Guard to Center (which I think would improve his questionable NFL draft stock). Lynch is not in the portal (yet) but there is an undercurrent (more like a low murmur) starting to build of him potentially leaving for Texas. I'd complain about tampering but let's face it, every team is doing it (including Indiana). We already lost Baby Mendoza to Ga Tech about 7 minutes after he entered the portal (this case of tampering has been swirling for almost a week now).
