Three Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 3?

Obviously, we will see where scheduling goes in the future, especially with a 9 game SEC schedule, but in an ideal world, what are the top 3 teams you wish Texas would schedule a home and home with? Here are mine: 1. Florida State - I want a game in Tallahassee. There's something about the war chant, chief Osceola, etc. that just screams perfection. And Texas has never played FSU. 2. Penn State - I would love to see this game. I know they played in 1997 and 1990, but I don't remember those games much. I want to see those uniforms on the same field. 3. Oregon/Virginia Tech - I know I'm the one that created the thread and I'm breaking the roles with basically including a 4th team, but I'm split between these 2. I have always wanted to see a game in Blacksburg. It has always seemed like a cool atmosphere, but Eugene is also a very cool place that would be an amazing atmosphere. So, these are mine. What say you? What are the teams you want Texas to schedule in an ideal world?

Three Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 3?

Quinn Ewers meant more to the program as an "it factor" than anything else. He was a solid QB, but when he came back to Texas, it became an "exponentially cool" place for big recruits again. Arch has some of the same gravitas. We were floundering for years on being an "IT" place to land. For those of us that remember surviving on what we could get, versus what we wanted and needed. The Mack Brown era brought in the dudes, but there was a decade or so where oklahoma and a&m got the better of us in recruiting. -
Arch ran an RPO rollout against UTSA in 2024 and hit a crosser; later, he ran the same play and, instead of passing, took off on a long run for a TD. I would like to see a play like that to get his juices flowing early. His option based on what he sees.

I agree with this. Arch is actually a better QB when he's running. He was terrible in the first half of the Aggie game 8 of 21 for 38.1%. Then in the 2nd half he started scrambling and running, and he started to connect on his passes 6 of 8 for 75%. His overall passing % was not even 50% at 48.27, but that was because of that first half where he was a statue.

One obvious thing I noticed tonight was that there were more volleyball fans in our opener than USC Football fans had in theirs:) -

I also love tailgates with a Cajun Flair. Boudin Balls or Jambalaya -

I am planning on sending him a Duke's Mayo cap! -
With how much "physicality" has been preached throughout camp, I have to imagine Sark is going to lean into that to try and set the tempo and tenor of the game. I want to agree with @Bobby Burton about the power run, but just knowing sark and the stregths of Smothers, I am going outside zone off the right side.

Great topic. For tailgating I am with you on the smoked sausage and I am a big fan of City Meat Market and Luling. Both are great. I also always have to have chips and queso at a tailgate. I like ribs, but I tend to favor them for a watch party at the house over an actual tailgate. Also - we can hope that @Gerry Hamilton doesn't see this thread because we all know what his answer will be... -

Great list. Vasher then Ewers a close 2nd. -
Arch and the O should certainly be better, but I’m firmly in the “show me” camp. He was infinitely better the second half of last season, but frankly he was just plain bad most of the first half of the season. Missing the spring and then not lighting it up in preseason leaves me with questions. Hopefully he and the rest of the O can pull it together, but I’ll keep the “Arch for Heisman” sign in the closet until his play compels me to bring it out.
