  3. When he meets our front 7...
  4. No. That’s not correct
  5. Hmm. Couple of factors here. - I think the staff has been happier with Baker’s work this spring and summer than some might recognize. Some believe he is the hardest worker on the OL. Not sure on the supposition that he’s been on a slow development curve. He’s literally a redshirt freshman and preparing to start this year. - Brooks was tackle no. 3 leaving spring. Then he got the DUI. Mentally, that will set a player back in the mind of a coach. And that occurred after the portal closed. In other words, they left spring thinking Brooks would be there for them. - Cojoe was not going to be a swing tackle. The pre-camp idea was for Brooks to groom at left tackle and Cojoe to push Baker. - In retrospect, they could have used another tackle in the portal IMO.
  6. This topic is intriguing to say the least, but this era of blocking someone or ignoring someone’s opinions as a whole just because you think they are being negative or disagree with the point is just pitiful. There are easily solid points made on both sides but my God I pray we can get past this culture of putting our hands over our ears when things don’t go our way or someone isn’t being nice to us…
  7. I hate to walk in to the middle of a compete street fight of a thread and ask a question but what exactly was the plan at OT if Brooks hadn’t presented as a ready option on this line? The staff has known Baker has had a slow development curve on campus. Had Brooks not been ready (which he still might not be) was it all in on Cojoe as the third option swing tackle?
  8. Pretty cool story. You may recall this kid going berserk during the UNT bowl game… his first start since 9th grade. Will be a fascinating follow this year. Could be another cam ward or john mateer story if he pans out. https://x.com/petethamel/status/1957523189334176091?s=46
  9. Fighting against one another feels counter-productive. ** “closetojumping” helped Texas at a time of immense need, at a time when too many Texas boosters sat on the sidelines either waiting to see exactly how NIL would play out or too many didn’t know or understand that there were serious obstacles to athletic success, football in particular, building. The inaction or lack of understanding was resulting in Texas ceding ground in every way possible to Texas A&M in football. The Aggies had embraced NIL before it was legal IMO. That all seems like a distant memory now. But it felt like -and was IMO - an existential crisis then. In what remains one of the most classic Aggie things of all time, Jimbo truly screwed up a 20-mile lead in a marathon. Back to my point: CTJ, alongside others, was fundamental into the formation of what eventually would become the Texas One Fund. He put his butt on the line (and his money) for virtually no reward other than the desire to see Texas win. He did that long before most folks started chipping in. He also leveraged more than just his financial acumen to do that. I know this because I saw it and witnessed it first hand. ** So when I see one of CTJ’s posts and he takes on me, or CJ, Rod, Jeff or Gerry, I don’t really flinch. I accept it, think about it and then move on. He’s coming from a place where he cares about Texas football as much as any of us.
  10. Baker was a pretty athletic qb in college. He’s no Kyler Murray, but he’s slowed down after a lot of hits in the nfl. The clips I’ve seen on sayin don’t exactly scream athletic qb, not even in the baker college level. OSU has an incredible receiving core. OSU wins the game if they can protect sayin from the best pass rush he will see all season. If not UT wins the game.
  11. Today
  12. I never viewed Baker as much of a scrambler but Sayin is definitely more athletic than Baker.
  13. I don’t think think he has either’s scrambling ability
  14. i agree with you. However i don’t believe it’s an if . I believe Arch is going to play his heart out & let his talent shine. we’ve got the support on offense & defensively to carry Arch through any adversity he may face.
  15. Why would you just assume their DL is not good (maybe you aren’t)? It’s Ohio st. I’m sure there will be a drop off but if nothing else they will be pretty good based on talent alone. Our OL won’t be as good as last year either.
  16. You also have to take away his first read and limit explosives. When teams did that to Quinn, he dropped his eyes and got a deer in the headlights look. That what we want.
  17. If only NIL was a thing back in '06 or '08. Maybe VY comes back in '06 and wins a Heisman, Big 12 and natty over playing for Jeff Fisher. If you had Charles in '08 you could run the ball down Tech's throat and keep that explosive passing attack on the bench. Texas legit could've won 2 or 3 more natties during that 2005-2009 stretch.
  18. …Mack has another National Championship if Jamaal Charles stays for 2008 season.
  19. Yeah that's going to be interesting. As of now, they have Texas as the home team for their three rivalry games in odd years and the away team in even years. I don't think they'll do a 9-game conference schedule anytime soon. Something's gotta give. Wouldn't mind having another big home game besides Ohio State, but besides Georgia, you would only get that from Alabama or LSU. Tennessee is a toss-up.
  20. Sayin is accurate and seems to have decent pocket awareness. From a psychologically competitive point of view, he hasn't exactly shown much. As soon as Arch committed to Texas, he decided he didn't want to compete with Arch. Don't really blame him. When Saban initially retired, Sayin didn't immediately hit the portal. He waited until DeBoer arrived and told Sayin that Austin Mack was coming from Washington to compete with Sayin. After that, Sayin transferred.
  21. I wouldn’t call it a reworked defensive line. They are all 4 experienced players who have been in the program. Ohio State’s starting DT’s should be dominant.
  22. My understanding is that Arkansas, A&M and the criminals are "permanent" rival games for Texas, unless something changes. I have no doubt the SEC wants to make sure they have Arch play against Ole Miss, Tennessee and LSU.
  23. Did not know that. I guess they would take Arkansas off the schedule and add a home game against Auburn. Make Missouri a home game too.
