why Ismael Camara not playing LT, but DT and not even a OL starter. Dont understand the choice. Even for him, it's not cool not having rep at his real position

Texas State didn’t accidentally stumble into yards - they straight‑up moved our front more than they should’ve. Everybody wants to talk about the passing game, but the run defense was the part that actually made me sit up. Our DL wasn’t denting the line, wasn’t striking consistently, and way too often they were catching blocks instead of delivering the first blow. Edges were soft, too. They got reach blocks on our DEs like it was a walkthrough. Outside zone, split zone, wide splits - Texas State basically said “let’s make Texas defend space,” and our front didn’t compress it. Young LBs flashed, but the fits weren’t clean, and when your DL isn’t giving you knock‑back, that problem gets magnified. Yeah, they only scored 7, but don’t kid yourself - they moved the ball because they won leverage. That’s the part that doesn’t translate well when you start playing teams with actual RBs and OLs. If we don’t get more violent at the point of attack, better teams will punish that. Texas State actually outrushed us.

This is where losing Smith is unfortunate because he could be that guy. Cryer is a good dude, he's just too slow.

In fact it felt like the Texas State OL was pushing the DL around, a lot. I know it's only week 1 but I was expecting more from them. Heat is also a factor but still.

Well not only do you expect him to be great, he's being paid a pretty penny for it, too. He wasn't terrible but I just expected to see him dominating better. Hope we see it against Ohio State.

Dude might a piece of sh*t but man that dude could just not be blocked or stopped. Even in the league he was hard to stop.

I think this Texas team has all the potential to become a true juggernaut. I went into Saturday wanting to see the offense rush for 250+ yards against Texas State, while Arch Manning threw for 160+ yards and accounted for three total touchdowns. The one thing I miscalculated was Texas State playing single-high coverage and loading the box to stop the run. And that is the conundrum every defensive coordinator and head coach is going to have to face against this Texas offense. What makes it even more difficult is Will Muschamp’s defense. This defense is not going to allow an offense to dictate the terms of the game or simply control the clock. It is going to put pressure on opposing offenses to make plays. The remaining question is: What can our offensive line and tight ends do when teams lighten the box? Because once Texas starts going up by multiple scores early, it becomes a death sentence for opposing teams. And we already know what Steve Sarkisian can do with an opening script when he has future NFL-level players at his disposal. This, my friends, is the beginning of something special. I agree. A lot of times when Tx State needed a yard or 2 they were able to get it. They were 8/14 on third down. We need to continue to have the short yardage stuffing d line we’ve had the past few years.

Louisville gave this game away with the bad snap on the punt and the stupid roughing the kicker on the missed FG. Would have had a 14 point lead and instead of having to score to tie the game, could have been running clock to end the game. If Ole Miss needs big mistakes from the opposing team to win games this year, I don't think Chambliss is going to be able to cover for a bad defense and other teams pissing down their legs. The dude is a stud, but Ole Miss is not an elite team.

Well put it this way, if those same miscues show up next week, Ohio State will turn those in to TD's. Muschamp will know this. They'll also probably blitz more and get after Sayin. Not even sure how many sacks we had against Texas State, felt like 1 but it could've been more.

Our secondary looked better than last season. The emerging Kobe Black and Jonah Williams along with the experience and talent of Jelani McDonald solidified the safety position. Good to have Gideon back coaching the safety position. Phillips got the most snaps at CB and held up well, only a ticky tack call went against him when the ref was at a bad angle to see the interactions imo. CB Roberson quietly had a pretty good day. CB Mascoe had tackling issues. His coverage was OK but TXSt was just a bit better at times. NB Littleton is proven at NB and had a big play. CB Mathews played sparingly but he looks the part. Biles has the athleticism and ball skills to be an asset in pass coverage or effecting the QB blitzing. Areas of concern in pass defense. Cryer doesn't have the quickness or speed or change of direction to be a good cover LB. I'm not a fan of moving Colin from rushing the passer at Edge to playing off ball LB.

Tbh they'll likely be a .500 team with him.

Chambliss is a gamer. Very difficult to sack due to his pocket awareness and quickness, extremely accurate passer. Ole Miss is 500 team without him. They wouldn’t be a team to worry about if he didn’t get his 6th yr.

Ole Miss secondary with some bad coverage lapses and abysmal tackling. Stupid penalties cost Louisville the game.

As good as Ole Miss was in the pass game their defense was very mediocre.

He hired all the assistants to mesh with Muschamp and had to pivot to Kwiatowski, when Mrs. Muschamp said you are a dad 1st right now.

I could've swore he wanted Golding to come with him but I guess I'm wrong.

Isn't Muschamps negative is he struggles against QB's who can run? We have plenty of those on the schedule, do we anticipate that being an issue?
