  1. Past hour
  2. Preach on brother!!!! I prefer you dropping the information…your track record speaks for itself on the Bball!
  3. Pretty cruel statement. Curb your tongue
  4. We’ll see if it works out for elko because it sure as hell didn’t for fisher.
  5. You’re blending three different concepts and acting like they’re the same thing. We were talking about reaction time. Reaction time is purely distance ÷ velocity. Ball size doesn’t enter the equation unless you think circumference bends spacetime 😀
  6. I don't want to sound like a homer, but having a top 5 signing class in 2027 and beyond just means that you won't have money for the portal. The portal is a superior way to find proven talent. Signing class ranking no longer tell the whole story.
  7. Major league teams tend to beat minor league teams.
  8. Let’s see if they make it to signing day.
  9. You’re right. These players are special and love Texas. I’m just scarred from WBB portal season. 😂
  10. It's going to be tough for Elko to keep that spigot open without high level results. My guess is that 1/2 if not more of these top 50/100 players transfer out when they don't live up to expectations and won't take a pay cut or they do perform and want another payday.
  11. The ball being bigger unquestionably makes it easier to hit. Do you think a bowling ball is not easier to make contact with than a bb, at equal speed? A straight 97 mph fastball is easier to hit than an 87 mph slider with high spin rate. Anyone who watches baseball knows this. You have more reaction time with the slider but it’s moving away from your bat during that extra time so it’s harder to hit. You cannot survive in MLB throwing nothing but straight 97 mph fastballs. You have to sacrifice reaction time for movement.
  12. Today
  13. Back to Back Champs this team was built not bought it's a difference no need to worry about our main girls they aren't going anywhere
  14. Pitchers are the most coveted portal players because how much they impact the game. Will be interesting to see who gets who.
  15. That's it for Schloss and the Longhorns. We'll be back here at 7 p.m. tomorrow for the first game of the Austin Super Regional between Texas and Oregon.
  16. Mendoza has gotten into a good routine as the DH, with his shoulder injury not allowing him to play second base.
  17. Schloss said Ethan Mendoza "had an awesome weekend." "I'm super excited about the balance of our lineup all the way through," he said.
  18. On the bottom of the lineup, Schloss said Ashton Larson is starting to hit lefties better and Pendergrass is seeing the ball well. It's nice to have Borba's 17 home runs at the bottom of the lineup, he said.
  19. Pitchers who didn't pitch in the regional threw in two simulated games early this week, Schloss said.
  20. Schloss said he remembers when Texas A&M was in Omaha in 2022. He coached in a game that ended shortly before midnight and then was on a two-hour Zoom call with Paul Skenes, trying to recruit him out of the transfer portal. "I may have exaggerated a little bit," he said, regarding how long the call lasted.
  21. "It's a challenge to stay in the mix with the best players in the country and try to get them in here," Schloss said on how the staff is handling the transfer portal and the Super Regional occurring simultaneously. "At the same time, we don't want to shortchange this team."
  22. Volantis, as he has throughout the season, lets Max Weiner handle the scouting report (that's the case with all of the Texas pitchers). He's not focused on Oregon's lineup. Volantis said he's focused on executing his pitches and throwing strikes.
  23. Schloss hasn't lost a Super Regional since 2012, when TCU lost on the road to UCLA. Schloss said that has nothing to do with him, but with the great players he's coached because, ultimately, they have to perform and execute.
