  1. Past hour
  2. I don't expect every game to be 70-0. I expect the team to look well coached especially considering the amount of snaps the players have over the course of the past few years that are now starters. One side of the ball lives up to that, the other does not and it's been that way for going on 3 years now. We do not have an identity on offense since Sark has been here....there is not one thing you can point to and say yes that is Texas offense under Steve Sarkisian. We are just a jack of all trades that are above average to good across them but a master of none. That lack of identity is why we continually struggle in the red zone.
  3. agree to disagree. they were able to play keep away against us and convert manageable third downs with passes and runs. they were coached well and did not beat themselves with penalties and got their QB in a rhythm early on. When they needed plays, they made them. They're ranked #1 for a reason...until they're not, they're the front runner. hopefully, we can get Arch in a rhythm early on and convert third downs at a better rate going forward. until then, we have a lot of improvements to make.

  5. Just a tad early for the overreactions, but hey.. here we are! From USA Today: Arch Manning amassed good stats in Texas' rout of San Jose State, but he was far from flawless. What if Arch Manning doesn’t stink? And, what if he’s not some blend of Tim Tebow meets Joe Burrow? What if he’s just … average? Maybe, a notch above average, especially when he’s not facing Ohio State. I know, I know, when evaluating Manning, it’s a spicy-takes-only zone. I’m at risk of a committing party foul, because there’s nothing especially spicy about calling a first-year starting quarterback average. Based on what we’ve seen of Manning through two starts this season, though, it’s the appropriate evaluation. If you believed everything you read on social media, then Manning was either awesome or awful against San Jose State. He was neither. He was sufficient, while starting in front of a home crowd against an overmatched opponent. No wonder Archie Manning predicted his grandson wouldn’t declare for the NFL draft after this season. Nothing we’ve seen suggests he’s ready for "Monday Night Football." Nothing we’ve seen suggests Steve Sarkisian erred by starting Quinn Ewers the past two seasons, either. Manning made some nice tosses in Texas’ 38-7 rout of San Jose State. Say this for him: He can throw a wheel route. Any SEC quarterback should be able to carve up an opponent of this caliber, and, after a rocky start, Manning did. He also threw an interception in the red zone when he forced a pass into double coverage, and Texas punted six times while he was in the game. Just as he did against Ohio State, he looked better the longer the game went. He threw four touchdown passes, and Sarkisian kept playing him in a blowout deep into the fourth quarter, giving Manning’s stats time to marinate. If you wagered your mortgage payment on Manning winning the Heisman Trophy, you’re probably feeling squeamish. This performance did not harken memories of uncle Peyton lighting up Kentucky for more than 500 yards. Didn’t evoke comparisons to Vince Young, either. Also didn’t elicit memories of Garrett Gilbert, a former five-star bust at Texas. This performance ranked as something in between Young and Gilbert. Not spicy. Not bad, either. Manning interspersed good throws with bad ones. He made a good read on a run-pass option for a touchdown to Parker Livingstone, who’s emerged as a favorite target. He grimaced while bouncing a throw at the feet of an open Ryan Wingo. He airmailed a deep ball early in the first quarter, which came closer to an interception than a completion. He showed speed and jukes that Peyton and Eli would envy on a weaving scramble into the end zone. Manning’s passing mechanics need polish. His athleticism as a runner remains an asset. He proved effective, but far from flawless. The good news for Texas? Led by its talented defense, Texas can win a lot of games with a solid, imperfect quarterback. But, the Longhorns will need a quarterback to win a national championship. Manning hasn't looked championship ready. Maybe, he’ll get there. Manning will close September with two more games against Group of Five opponents. That’s groundwork for more stat-padding and blazing takes. "Sloppy," Manning said of his performance against San Jose State. Spicy! Like a lot of opinions about Manning, though, he overstated it. Sometimes, a guy’s just average, no matter his surname.
  6. Quinn's footwork exhibits the exact same footwork issue we see with ARch.
  7. https://youtu.be/yrQbTkqi1u4?si=dreLOZEowp7qcTsX 20 PTS, 20 REB game for Croatia in the U17 World Cup.
  8. Vic Schaefer and the WBB program hosted a major 2026 target on Saturday for the San Jose State game. 2026 Christ The King C (N.Y.) Olivia Vukosa was in Austin to check in with the Longhorns. The 6-foot-4-inch center is ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the class of 2026 and the No. 1 center in the country. Vukosa was joined by her mother and three sisters on the 40 Acres. The five-star dropped a final five on Friday, ahead of her trip to Austin. Those five included UConn, South Carolina, Texas, LSU and Ohio State.
  9. Except in the case where a school goes all in to retain upperclassmen to win a natty like Ohio State did last year.
  10. It wasn’t even necessarily about you. There’s just tons of talk about this regarding Arch. It seems a bit unprecedented too. Generally speaking, people have lost context. One of those being, if you miss seeing a guy or mid a throw but eventually score 7, just move past that miss because the ultimate goal was achieved. Also, there’s been no comparison to other guys. I used Nussmeier as an example. He’s thrown a ton of passes thus far. His yards per attempt is rather low 5-6 yards per attempt. They haven’t scored a ton of points. They’re having to drive the field, dinking and dunking. I don’t have proof but I’d wager he’s passing, or missing, available targets down the field too. Maybe people will back off the unreasonable standard and get to what is more normal. We have a ton of growing to do offensively. Penalties are one element to cut down. Wingo - not sure what to make of him. We’ve seen Moore get down for a ball at least twice. Wingo has passed on two attempts to do the same. He dropped an easy and has had several questionable routes. For Arch, make those throws on 3rd down to get you that next set of downs. First downs will lead to TDs.
  11. Texas will host Stanford in its home opener. The match will be in the the Moody Center at 12 noon and will be televised on ESPN. This the 1st time the Moody Center has hosted a VB match and is sold out.
  12. Ohio State has just as many flaws as anyone else. They had 200 yards against Texas. 200 and the run game or run defense didn't exist. They may end up winning it all, nothing they've shown says this is their identity offensively and to win it all you need something to lean on. What is that for Ohio State? Can't say the passing game, can't say the running game, they crossed the 50 twice in four quarters. They are not the clear front runner.
  13. Quinn was hurt majority of the season I don’t consider that regression, Arch is getting more comfortable every game. I’ve only seen fans call Sark a bad play caller never an analyst or coach, odd. The reality is this team will get better week to week the more they play together
  14. Today
  15. Tom, is this you?
  16. i like our young tightends. they all flashed. Washington who is the Redshirt Freshman probably had the "worst" game with his drop and missing a block that led to a sack/fumble. But Nick Townsend is going to do some damage as a blocker, and I can't wait to see him with ball in hands as Gerry would say. Winston also had a nice catch with good yards after the catch.
  17. i agree. like in basketball or golf when you shoot and you know it's going to be an airball or slice.
  18. I've seen guys grimace while shooting jumpers, making throws in all sports, tapping puts, etc. I don't remember it leading to wild speculation about injury unless it was already known the guy was injured.
  19. Ohio state is definitely the front runner. They will beat Penn State and beat Michigan. If they play Oregon, it will be in the Big Ten Championship game. We will have to beat them and Georgia at some point if we want to win.
  20. I have never ever seen someone grimace DURING a throw that hasn’t even left their hand, because it was a bad throw. That is some weird squinty logic. Meanwhile, his jank sidearm delivery that we didn’t expect would make perfect sense if he’s compensating for a rotator cuff or AC issue. By the way this is the last thing I or anyone want. But his body language, grimacing etc stood out on the telecast.
  21. A side note on the Arch talk: We knew the level of scrutiny was going to be unprecedented, but it's more than I thought it would be in terms of each outlet/analyst trying to outdo each other on every play. Knew there we talk about good and bad stuff, but trying to figure out his facial expressions and body movements on every play is nuts.
  22. Given that all the "grimaces" come on missed throws, and then he follows up by throwing a dart 30-50 yards, the injury speculation is a prime case of reading too much into the situation. He could get dinged up any time, but there's no reason to think he is now.
  23. I think it was a reaction because the throw was off
  24. Somewhat, but not as much these days Florida won NC last year and was ranked 20-21 in preseason poll UConn had their great run, but look at the teams that were in E8 and FF those two years Teams that have made a Final Four in last three years: UConn Alabama Florida Houston Auburn NC State FAU San Diego State Miami Purdue Duke Times are much different now.
