His on-base percentage is 2nd worst on the whole roster (only above 'Doza) as is his OPS. I'm a big fan of A Rod and how he improved his overall game — his jumps on defense and baserunning (especially!) have been so impressive — but clearly he needs to get healthy in order to contribute at the dish. Very relieved to hear they're at least gonna try something (again).

We’ve been seeing all the signs that this was coming. I’m actually surprised he’s not out for the season. I would really like to see Borba stay at first. I’ll admit I was concerned pre-season about his lack of experience at first but he’s been really good overall this season. His ball IQ is a big factor in his success in my opinion. Either way there’s going to be a new player in the infield. First gets a lot more action than third does.

I hope they get it right so that he can heal better. As commented above, it was painful watching him bat. He was not hitting well, but if you look at the statistics for SEC play 4 or 5 players are doing poorly. A few guys are carrying the team.

Calling college sports a “public asset” that Congress needs to manage just doesn’t make sense. This isn’t taxpayer-funded, it’s schools competing in a market that’s finally showing what things are actually worth. Yeah, it’s messy right now, but that’s what happens when you take away years of artificial limits. Making it a federal issue just brings in politics and slows everything down. The real point isn’t being said out loud. This is about pushing back on SEC and Big Ten dominance and trying to even out the money. If Texas Tech were in the SEC or Big Ten with those same payouts, this argument probably never gets made. That’s the tell. It’s less about protecting the system and more about where your program stands in it. Those leagues are ahead because that’s where the demand is. You don’t fix that by forcing balance from the top down, you just protect teams that can’t keep up. Let it play out, clean up the rules, and it’ll settle on its own.
