Mike Elko vs TexAgs/fan base … is wild
Oldest Horn replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Social media is a cesspool. Whether it’s Twitter or message boards, people posting anonymously get far more courage than they do in person, either with each other or coaches and players. Take a look at some of the posts on this and other Texas boards over the last 15 hours. Folks get way too high when they win and very reactive when their team loses. The problem aggie has is the board, Tex Ags, which is practically embedded into their program. Their own moderator brags about his access and friendships with folks in the building (and even helping JFF wake up for draft workouts). When you become the de facto insider you’re going to get way more scrutiny. That said, Elko needs to stop whining about social media. It’s a sad fact of life in 2026. Turn it off, coach the team and move on. -

Bishops touchdown was how it was drawn up, sit in the zone to draw the defener and release. Arch was not scrambling on the play. -

This falls at Sark’s feet. Arch absolutely has blame, but when you have back-to-back 5 stars, you have to look at the system around them. -

As they say chicks, dig the deep ball. Apparently, so does Arch. Singles and doubles win games you guys may remember but sark told arch to look for Emmett Mosley during the Ohio State on the crossing route. I bet if it were not for Sark mentioning that in the headphones at the last minute arch would not have made that read. -

The play calling at times is terrible and the play book has changed drastically over the last couple of years. Not utilizing the RB 's in the screen game has all but disappeared and not targeting TE 's as well. Arch not seeing the blitz coming is baffling and Sark not adjusting to the constant blitz fronts is a CRIME! I also know that the constant 3 and outs make it difficult for an offense to find its rhythm but at some point some adjustments have to be made and that falls on Sark. " The year before the year " might turn into just another year. Sadly. 🤘🤘 -

Sark is proving that he is more of QB killer than a QB whisperer, also doesn’t help that our OL has never been able to pick up a blitz -

Honestly, I think the best thing for Arch’s continued development would be to transfer to another school with a qb whisperer coach. He seems to have not only plateaued, but regressed this year under sark. -

OTF Premium Thoughts on the ugly loss
TexasLonghorns replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It starts with execution and discipline. The penalties, stalled drives, and offensive inconsistency are unacceptable for a team with this much talent and experience. Simplify the offense, establish the run, and give up play calling. When the same problems keep showing up, it’s a coaching problem. Elite head coaches delegate and adapt. Sark has repeatedly shown he’s unwilling to do either. Unfortunately, Texas is paying the price. -

Understood and thanks for elaborating. In my opinion, Arch is diagnosing plays slow due to the time it’s taking to run the routes that are his 1st and 2nd reads. However, I could certainly be wrong -

The way this OLine can’t pick up a blitz to save its life, Quinn would be getting flatlined every time he drops back to pass. -

Great article Gerry. The QB craft needs to improve substantially. The offense in general needs to develop an identity and consistency. Arch is part of that, but 11 possessions of 4 plays or less doesn’t speak well to the OC. Following up a 6 three and out game with a 7 three and out performance is just bad. Also, Sark talks about complimentary football but he rarely executes it. Following up two three and outs with a one play 41 yard touchdown pass isn’t complimentary. Going three and out the next two drives after that sure as hell isn’t complimentary football. 5 possessions totaling 13 offensive plays to start the game. Yeesh… -
After years of faithful service, my most trusted piece of Texas equipment has officially let me down. It could not overcome a blocked punt for a TD, a pick six and repeated inept drives on a day our play calling failed me. I never thought I’d see the day. After years of unwavering loyalty, countless game days, and more than a few questionable decisions, my lucky Longhorn T-shirt finally failed me. I’m not talking about a little disappointment, either. I’m talking about a full-blown betrayal of biblical proportions for a guy who finds himself living in Oklahoma. That shirt and I had been through everything together. Big wins. Crushing losses. Last-second field goals. Questionable coaching decisions. It had absorbed enough sweat, spilled beverages, dripping hot sauces and nervous energy to qualify as an official University of Texas historical artifact. And through it all, I trusted it. I wore it on game days because, frankly, I had no choice. Somewhere along the way, I became convinced that my shirt possessed supernatural powers. When the Longhorns won, I credited the shirt. When they lost, I blamed myself for not wearing it early enough, washing it incorrectly, or possibly thinking a positive thought about the opposing team. I had rules. Never wear it before pregame. Never let anyone else touch it. Never wash it after a win. And absolutely, under no circumstances, replace it with a newer shirt. Newer shirts are unproven. They haven't earned their burnt-orange stripes. My wife thought I was ridiculous. She suggested that perhaps the players on the field had more influence over the outcome than a faded piece of cotton hanging in my closet. The order we all sit in the TV room could never be altered- could cost us the win. For years, the shirt has delivered. The Longhorns won, and I strutted around like I had personally drawn up the offensive scheme. The Longhorns lost, and I spent the next week explaining that the shirt had been compromised by circumstances beyond my control. Maybe I had sat in the wrong chair. Maybe I had eaten the wrong snack. Maybe the television needed to be turned off and back on. There was always a reasonable explanation, and it was never the shirt's fault. Until now. On the fateful Saturday, I followed my usual routine. I put on the shirt, settled into my favorite spot, stocked up on game-day provisions, and prepared to witness another glorious chapter in Longhorn history. I was too confident. The shirt felt right. The burnt orange was still visible beneath years of wear. The fabric had softened to the consistency of an old dish towel, but that was a good sign. It meant the magic had soaked in. Then the game started. Things went wrong almost immediately. A bad penalty. A missed opportunity. A play call that made me question whether anyone on the coaching staff had ever watched football before. I looked down at my shirt. Nothing. No warmth. No reassuring tingle. Not even a tiny supernatural nudge. Despite me tugging at the collar. I straightened the hem. I even patted the steer-head logo, as though checking whether it was still conscious. I even took off my shoes to see if that would change the momentum but the Longhorns continued to struggle. Finally, I confronted the only logical conclusion. After years of loyal service, this shirt had apparently decided it was tired of carrying an entire football program on its shoulders. No more prime closet space for that baby. To the old T-shirt drawer it now goes. Soon it is on to a new, brighter, cleaner, and completely untested shirt . I plan to wear it next Saturday with cautious optimism and the kind of blind faith that has gotten me into trouble before. Will it bring the Longhorns good luck? Who knows? So I guess in the meantime out team is going to have to learn from this loss and rally to be their best so they never have to have the apron they felt yesterday. I believe this and perhaps a new shirt can get it done. (But if it doesn't, I'm keeping the receipt). Hook 'em Horns! And to my old lucky shirt: Thanks for the memories, you cotton-clad fraud.
