Wanted to share my final thoughts on Arch Manning ahead of the non-conference action over the next three weeks. I think Arch Manning will be fine. The quickest way to elevate his game is to truly trust that offensive line which played admirably against Ohio State last Saturday. Trust in the offensive line will do a few things: 1. Slow down the game, allowing Arch to read his keys instead of skipping chapters to find a check down. 2. Allow Arch to play comfortably within the pocket, cleaning up the mechanical issues we saw due to a sped up internal clock. 3. Provide opportunities for routes downfield to develop and come open downfield, something that happened on Saturday but was not given a chance as a result of some skiddishness. Three weeks to improve and as a betting man, the one thing I am not going to do is bet against Arch Manning.

You respond originally with a dissertation(but you’re not defensive lol) that includes questions and as a courtesy I address them but you’re maturity says to reply so that you can insult the perceived length and close with a cliche? 🤣😂 You are a hoot.

I think we lack the short area quickness, burst, “make a guy miss” element but not necessarily the straight-line speed element. There is no J.Blue acceleration on the current team. There is no S.Bolden zero-to-top speed in a blink guy either. Nor is there a guy with the speed / cuts of route running that we had in Bond or Golden. That is how you get open most of the time. D.Moore may have 10.6 speed, but he doesn’t have great quickness in and out of routes, nor great deceleration (stop-n-start). He’s a straight line guy. Wingo has elite straight line speed (10.5), and has great burst / acceleration, but he runs upright and kinda stiff. He is a guy who can win in wide space, but not short area space. I would not call the 2025 team a bunch of plodders, but they are not a team of guys who win with quickness / burst, not make you miss elusiveness.

I have a feeling North Carolina's season will largely dictate how many opportunities long time NFL coaches will get to coach a college team moving forward. -

I think Gruden would be a disaster at Alabama and pretty much any other big time college program. -

Sark said on 3rd and Longhorn (and I believe him) that the Texas job is the best college job because of everything that you have, including the city of Austin. Financial resources, fan support, recruiting base, Austin having both big city as well as college town feel, no pro football team, the list goes on. Felt like as he was talking he truly believed it makes his job easier because recruiting to Austin isn't as hard as say college station. -

They couldn't use the correct icon/emoji for Texas? A cow really? -
Nice pocket passer. 😆 I hope his offensive line does better and that he scrambles more to get a pass off and not just run so that it will be easier to evaluate him. But, boy can he run.

Dan Orlovaky on Arch (not what you think)
alrightalrightalright replied to Jay K's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I don't know if these are the same clips, overlapping, or different but here's an extended version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYDjuferfmY I agree with what Dan's saying. If Arch completes his short throws underneath or hits the open receivers, his game looks much better overall. For instance, 3rd and 3 from the 9, stood out on rewatch. Spencer Shannon runs an opposite crossing route to Wingo. If Arch does hit Wingo, it's likely a first down. Ty Howard locks onto Wingo and leaves Shannon running across in the opposite direction. But IF Arch hits Spencer Shannon in space, in stride, he might be able to turn up field and get in the EZ. -
Hoped you wouldn’t get defensive but alas. Not a strength and little push. If this were accurate we score at least twice in short yardage. They gave us rushing between the 20s because we don’t have the backs to make them pay. Most of the rushing was empty calories between the 20s. Taaffe can’t compete physically with Downs. They’re in different zip codes. Much of the freedom to run the different disguises/defenses is the versatility of Downs. Love Taaffe and we’re lucky to have him. Zero coaches in the history of ever would take him over Downs unless he is an enormous debit in the locker room of which I haven’t heard. If you measure anything by I saw it happen, insert low number, then you could say you’re right about everything. Arch had a crap game. Even Quinn, often to self sack, stepped into the pocket. It’s what you do once you’re there. 3 times as validation is super funny. Saying a coach tailors a plan for their player says nothing. The outlier is the one that doesn’t and in this game, Sark intentionally tailored it to the short and intermediate game and not the deep pass so you were absolutely wrong. Now you’re extolling your prognostication expertise by downplaying the risk at Florida. I think loud crowds impacting games are largely mythical if a team is elite. Strong O/D lines with good backs are a real threat especially with our primary backer still struggling with run fits. OU after isn’t ideal either. If we’re competing for a championship this season, we should win but that doesn’t eliminate that they’re one of the teams we need to take seriously unlike the next 3. Spare me the coach talk about every team gets our best. Have a great day. I’m not going to reply to anything else. I’m happy that you enjoy and support the team. I apologize if I originally rankled you. It just tickled me. 🤘🏽

You say after beating LSU like that’s something that will happen. Florida goes to Death Valley the week before and takes on the same LSU squad that just handled Clemson in the road. It’s very probable that Florida is coming off a loss at Death Valley when we play them.

A different perspective from Dan Orlovksy. Dan says it was not Arch playing poorly as much as Matt Patricia dialing up NFL concepts that Arch had never seen. It is a good 2min 30sec video. Instagram link

OTF Premium Thoughts on Arch Manning
harveycmd replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Arch should have taken my advice and talked a lot of smack before and during the game to juice himself. Just watched the interview again where Kobe was talking about the first time he played against MJ when was 18. Guy asked him what it was like to hear MJ talking with so much respect for him after the game. "It was nice, but he didn't tell me anything I didn't already know." -
That's what Baxter would've been if not for his injury last year. The fact he even played against Ohio State is a damn miracle lol.

Florida? Really?
Dread-headed Texan replied to Dread-headed Texan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
When it comes to lines of scrimmage I read the reports and try to make my best assessment. I knew Texas would be better people movers than last year because of the size. I watched our transfer defensive tackles and the flashes January had last year and expected him to improve from there. Many of the experts had worries about our interior, but there's a post somewhere that I said we insert new guys every year since Couburn and Ojomo and get better every year somehow. I didn't learn anything from watching Florida last weekend and definitely didn't see anything concerning outside of their sophomore running back. He's what I expected Baxter to be. -
Basically the same for Arch then. Although I guess DJ has played a little more. For the OL/DL I’m just going off of what experts thought and where they were rated. They were both top 10 in the country pre season. Couldn’t tell anything really with their first game.

Where did you see that. I read where their yards after contact was pretty bad.

Was not the G-C-G not a strength and not able to get push? Didn't the lack of depth for OSU show up? How many rushing yards did Texas have. Most of my statements were predicted on Arch playing decently, which he didn't until the fourth quarter. Where did Downs in this game look light years ahead of Taafe? What coverage did OSU play? Inverted Tampa 2. I talked about Arch stepping up in the pocket, did you not see that 3 times this game? Didn't Sark tailor the game to what Arch does well? His best passes wasn't the quick game its the deeper stuff and thats the best passes Arch threw all game. While you're getting screenshots go back and find where I was asking about Arch in the quick game and intermediate throws. To say nothing I said happened is crazy. -
It’s almost like you’re taunting me with this initial line. I have read one guy lost us the game. From my seat, we had a prove it moment twice inside the 10. Sark put us into position to fail on the sneak. Then 3rd and 3. I’m generally of the opinion that if you’re going on 4th at that distance, you go run on 3rd. Yeah, yeah missed pass. Again, those are prove it moments for the Oline. And really a perfect game and venue to do it. And not to mention, the team would likely be pumped for Baxter in his return to the field to slam one home.
