33 Days: Who was the best No. 33? (a lot of options)
Rocky P replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Foreman if we are basing it just on Texas time. Love me some Priest but he didn't have the stats that Foreman did on a team that had virtually nothing but him as the option. -

Love David Gbenda. He poured everything he had into that semifinal game against Ohio State. Interception, huge 3rd down stop against the run, both in the second half. Also his effort sack against Bama was incredible. Wish we could have won that game vs Ohio State so his efforts would be remembered and talked about a little bit more. Would be a cool guest on Coffee & Football in the future recruiter Blake! - Today

So weβre expanding to 31 now? A prime number? Howβs that supposed to work, these guys really like to do thing the hard way. If theyβd just expand to 32 it would work out perfectly. π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺπππ. Seriously though, having 24 of these teams in would make for some incredible football games!!

Yeah agree and in the big 12 championship game against Nebraska when they had Ricky bottled up. Dβonta is a very close second with Lamar nipping at his heals. Loved me some Gbenda too. Lots of good options! -

I have to go with Priest. His performance in El Paso against our future coach and NC was remarkable. -
No. 33 has been worn by some outstanding Longhorns over the years, spanning multiple eras of Texas football. Leading the group is D'Onta Foreman, whose unforgettable 2016 season produced 2,028 rushing yards, a Doak Walker Award, consensus All-America honors and one of the greatest single-season performances in school history. Priest Holmes may have become an NFL superstar, but he also delivered several memorable moments in Austin, including earning Sun Bowl MVP honors and starring in Texas' first-ever Big 12 Championship victory over Nebraska. Defensive tackle Lamarr Houston anchored one of the best defenses in the country in 2009, earning consensus All-America honors and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year while helping Texas reach the BCS National Championship Game. Edwin Simmons showed tremendous promise early in his career, averaging 8.6 yards per carry as a freshman and helping the Longhorns finish No. 2 nationally in 1983 before injuries unfortunately cut short what looked like a standout career. Rounding out the list is David Gbenda, a fan favorite from the Sarkisian era. Gbenda played in 52 games, helped Texas win the 2023 Big 12 Championship and was a key contributor on back-to-back College Football Playoff teams.

Nowhere to go but up from there lol -
I'm told the freshman cornerback is planning on wearing #0. He'll join Raleek Brown as the second 0 on the team. It was likely that or #7 and it's hard to imagine him taking #7 right out of the gate.
