  1. Past hour
  2. Exactly, There's time to do it, but we haven't seen it yet.
  3. We're talking semantics at one level, but ultimately we're not. Bottom line is that it's not scoring "on command" that wins titles, it's defending "on command" that wins titles. It's great if you can score on command, but college teams can't. Even NBA teams can't score on command in the playoffs when the chumps finally decide to man up.
  4. Unfortunately this a common trend for Texas baseball.
  5. My use of "on command" is the pure definition ... "On command" means acting immediately in response to an order, signal, or request. It signifies doing something instantly when instructed or desired, often implying obedience or the capability to produce an action at will. That's where I'm coming from. If the game is going to be decided by 75+, better be able to get there on command. If the game is going over 80, better be able to get there on command. The losers in the NCAA Tournament, the majority of the time, can't get to 75+ or 80+ when it's required.
  6. What happened when they needed throw strikes but couldn't? You can say they didn't "execute," but you can't compete without executing under pressure.
  7. Gerry, the sticking point is "on command." Do they score more than 80 some of the time? Of course, but they don't score more than 80 every time, especially not against the best competition later in the tournament. Coaches would always like to score as much as possible. That would be "on command."
  8. Have to have the ability to go score 80+ on command when the game calls for a team to. Nothing has changed. Deep run teams historically have had multiple games in the tournament where they had to get 80 to survive and advance. All one has to do is the research. Colleges coaches literally have on boards… have to be able to score 75+ in the NCAA Tournament, and go get 80+ when pushed to the limit. If you are playing against a high level teams, they are going to score on good defense. So you have to as well. There is reason guys like Kelvin Sampson and Rick Barnes (terrific coaches) struggle in the higher scoring games
  9. Sounds like they were ready then? They led 6-4 in the 6th inning. They didn’t lose because they didn’t “compete” enough.
  10. Title game was called differently than all the other games. That's always the case. Point is, plenty of teams succeeded in the tournament without scoring big. Latest "trends" indicate you need size and defense more than scoring. There's no denying that. That being the case, we need a 4 that can rebound and muscle more than space and shoot. If you can shoot 1-3, that will provide more than enough space.
  11. Maybe we'll catch a break and the game will be canceled today.
  12. Today
  13. The women portal talk has been very limited across multiple sites. Did we have anyone visit this weekend?
  14. First series loss of the year I believe for baseball and the 2nd for the ladies. Not too shabby. Never ideal to lose to rivals but it happens. Time to bounce back and carry on.
  15. The most disappointing thig is that the team just hasn't been ready to compete. First game was close, but literally couldn't throw a strike when needed. Game two was a joke all around. This is not a good sign for the postseason.
  16. Baseball and Softball have both hit the skids, Awful weekend so far
  17. Our top 2 sluggers have struck out 4 times? did i hear that right?
  18. I can’t believe no one is on here blaming Kyle Flood like everything else lol
  19. He’ll call you a name or do the laughing emoji thinking this wins the argument. He is indefatigable.
  20. Pitching has been horrendous but right now the hitting isn't good either, We aren't stringing hits together and advancing runners and are only scoring through homeruns
  21. If no one else enters the portal, my starting five: Breya Cunningham (Center), Maddie Booker (Small Forward), Bri Preston (Point Guard), Isu Itute (Power Forward) and Adison Bjorn (Shooting Guard). That is a great starting five. Isu, though technically a freshmen, has been playing against and with Euro pros for several years.
