Good stuff Jeff. Thx. Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. I hate that our checklist does not include a healthy Colin Simmons considering we are going up against a formidable offense with stars at QB and RB. We need a sudden, disruptive presence. Spence may need to transition to play the Colin Simmons pass rush role. If not Spence, then Vasek and Wesley rotating to stay fresh. Both need to play sound. No hero ball. Ole Miss QB and RB can make them pay. If Smothers and Cooper are injured it is time to give Simon some carries. Raleek will need help. We really need to run the ball and shorten the game. But we have not done that well. Can we do it vs Ole Miss? Doubtful so we very likely need to pass more to pre snap reads on first down or do real RPOs. Teams are trying to take away Coleman. TEs have not been consistent, difference makers in the passing game. Agree, we may need to spread Ole Miss out more often by inserting Bishop. Bishop has not gotten many targets but he has delivered at a high rate (10 catches for 120yds and 1 TD on just 14 targets). Raleek can't hold up well enough and consistently enough as a blocker vs the bigger, athletic defenders. Spread Ole Miss out and you can lighten the box. Then see if we can get RB Brown the ball in space. I'm all for good scheme to get the favorable matchups. But sometimes you can't scheme it up. You may need to lean on your personnel advantages even if they know it is coming. The OL is not dependable in short yardage. Baker or Robertson vs Echols is not a good matchup for Texas. By using Echols in the B gap Ole Miss often avoids a double team. TE Townsend could be used as an HB move blocker in the run game to open up a hole for our RB in short yardage. Could also use a jumbo set. Again, I would love to shorten the game and possess the ball for long scoring drives with some good rushing but that is not something we have done well other than the 4th Q vs Ohio St. And that was 4 downs to get 10yds. Maybe we can use the quick pass in spread to somewhat accomplish this goal. Hopefully we avoid 3 and outs and avoid losing the turnover battle again. Our defense will need all the help it can get without Colin vs this potent offense. Texas may need to score 30+ points to win.

I’d rather just start Lacey.

What is more likely: 7-5 or CFP?
TexasLonghorns replied to AustinsTruth's topic in On Texas Football Forum
This team isn’t going 7-5 but if they do, I don’t see major shifts coming. -
I'd like to believe this... But I experienced 2008 when our 45-35 head to head win vs OU got discarded and dismissed. Our 3 top 10 wins last year got thrown to the side for another narrative.

7-5 , we are not winning out. Arky is the only game left that should be a definite win. How many more times will we beat ourselves? Answer is 7-5 -
It would be hilarious if we did this and it was unstoppable. 11-2 and to the playoffs we go.

There is no gimme game left on the schedule except maybe Arkansas. I just don’t see how you drastically improve the offense enough to go 6-0. Simmons will miss a few games and maybe even Smothers. I’ve accepted this team is likely going 7-5 or 8-4. Sark and Co are gone in December. I’ll eat my words if they pull it off. -
Thanks for the info LonghornFan4Ever. Was wondering how that game went.

Can't we all just get along? -
Start Arch, let him play for the 1st quarter. He'll probably get 10 points on the first two drives, then the quarter ends. Bring in KJ for the second quarter. New script, he can score based on a lack of film with KJ at QB. Different script. Bring Arch back in to start the 3rd QB. Same script as you started the 1st with. Let KJ finish it out with his script again. Prevents the 3 quarters of 0 offense. People forget that they have free will and can legit do anything they want. Desperate times. You can basically do anything, it won't be worse than what it has been.

Hold the Mayo Week 8: which underdog wins outright?
HonkEm replied to Kyle Miller's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The conference has been flipping expectations upside down lately. What looked obvious a week ago suddenly wasn't so obvious by Saturday night. That's why some of these numbers this weekend feel like traps. Our matchup in Austin has my attention, but the road team from Knoxville getting less respect than expected might be the most interesting number on the board. - Today

Unfortunately were potentially facing a 7-5 season which would cause some major shifts in Texas football
