How many have rewatched the SEC championship game and the tOSU game? Quinn takes a lot of criticism for that game, but if we're being honest we lost those games because there was plays to be made that was left on the feild. We look at Quinn's rating coming out of high-school and judge him on that instead of where the game is and his skillset. So 58 days from now and I'm excited. Arch may not live up to the hype, I'm actually betting that he doesn't. The expectations are so high that anything less than a natty is considered a failure. When the reality is this team lost a lot, but this is the first time in Sark's era that Texas is suited to play a modern game. We have a qb that can extend plays, make plays with his legs, and a big accurate down feild cannon. Sure the intermediate stuff and timing/precision throws needs improvement. All in all, I don't know if Texas wins it all, but they have the roster and talent to do so in the modern game of college football.

Texas wanted Rerick back and the coaches were excited about his future. That was the word the day before the news of him entering the portal dropped. I don’t think this was something the staff forced.

I may be off on this but seems like Schloss and staff are now honing in on their “type of players”. The one thing that always jumped out at me with Rerick was he always played emotional. He was really fiery when doing good but when he didn’t have it his emotions were clearly keeping him from being able to get pasted the rough start. That’s not the type of player that Schloss likes. I’m spitballing here but maybe Schloss and Weiner didn’t feel like he could get passed the emotional aspect.

More concerned about December than I am July. So, if we had hit on everyone, but they bailed prior to signing day, would you feel better?
-
FWIW - in the case of the most recent losses, yes, I know both sides of the coin. Admittedly, I do not know all of those from last year. Reporting on NIL offers will become a more common thing, especially as schools can start putting their offers in writing on August 1.
-
Good question. Here’s why: Because the preponderance of NIL spent previously came from what the NCAA and House Settlement deem as “associated entities”, i.e. collectives and/or business specifically related to Texas. According to the House Settlement, those associated entities are now regulated by NIL Go and must pass fair market value tests, of which 70-90pct would have been thrown out last year, according to Deloitte.

Always a fair question. But Sark and Brandon Harris don’t seem to panic, no matter the situation. Not in high school recruiting and not in the portal.

Hi John, First of all, we were not tracking either Guervil or Henderson heavily yesterday because 24 hours earlier we knew they were going elsewhere and reported as much. So we weren’t all in on covering the final throes of those recruitments. To your point, we probably should have had a thread for the day regardless. We’ll do that better this week, starting with Okpala today. 10am. Thanks, Bobby

Right. Add into the fact that kids make decisions for 8,000,000 reasons, most of them tied directly to monetary gain. I have read numerous sites saying this new “cap era” is actually far worse than the previous no restriction era ever was. I’m curious to see the strategy going forward

Some people want black and white answers and thoughts but reality of college football for at least 50 years has been gray area operations and pushing rules to their limits and beyond.

As an avid fan and a sponsor, this is an honest question and slight gripe: why should my source - you guys - go radio silent when we don't get a recruit? Why not have a simple post thread created to announce the result, and then update the thread title to "BOOM" or "MISS"? As a busy business owner, I don't have the time to go hunting through pages of jawboning to try to find out the result during my day. For instance, today with Guervil, I finally slogged through tonight since when I quickly checked the threads earlier today I saw nothing, so I had no idea if he had postponed or picked another school, as I figured if he had picked us you would have at least had a BOOM type post. So tonight I first discovered in a thread that the Noon commitment time had been pushed back to 4:00pm. Then I had to go search for 4 hours laters in pages of the thread to find the answer. Seems like an easy solution is to just have Gerry or CJ create the "Guervil Commitment Decision" post thread with the scheduled time of announcement in the title. Then he simply updates it if the time gets pushed back by hours or days, and then eventually just updates it with the decision. Those who want to dive into the thread to cuss and discuss it during the day can have at it, but for those who just wanted to know what happened, it would be of great service. Seems easy enough. EXAMPLE Original Thread Title: Guervil Commitment Announcement today 7/2 at Noon CST Updated Title: Guervil Commitment Announcement today 7/2 at Noon CST - PUSHED BACK to 4:00pm CST Final Title: Guervil Commitment Announcement today 7/2 at Noon CST - PUSHED BACK to 4:00pm CST - MISS 😞 Just trying to help make it even better! Hook'em!

Have you officially crowned them as texas tech geese? -
There's not a "cap," but there is a limit to viable NIL funds. I've been on record saying there is almost no chance this "clearing house" entity withstands higher judicial scrutiny. Even so, that doesn't mean that the NIL market won't become more stable. As that plays out over the next couple of years, there is good reason to be cautious about monetary risk in an unstable market. Texas will not have a talent deficiency in the next couple of years.

I think most of your premises are correct, but the problem is that we are either: a.) playing against guys who don’t treat the settlement as existing; or b.) able to throw a ton of money at a singular player since their roster does not require a significant retention rate (Tech).

The problem is we are operating like there is a salary cap, while our competitors are not.
