The entire point of the thread was the frustration over not being able to attend a sporting event on campus without the stink of weed. I added my annoyance with the constant advertising barrage of sports gambling watching and attending sporting events. I don't have any idea whether athletes watch porn on not but they aren't filming in front of families on the 50 yard-line.

Personally, I’d love not to take ad dollars from certain segments. At the same time, this is a business and I want to make payroll.

I mean, I could have included porn as something that makes society worse too but it has invaded sports...yet.

People love to make jokes and sometimes we make snide remarks, etc, but I actually think you are correct...in 20 years we may finally admit how bad it was, particularly for people younger than 25 years old (brain deveopment). I appreciate your comment and the probable courage it took to make it, knowing that so many of us will probably pooh pooh it. It's a hot button topic. I remember when MADD first formed and how much bad and derisive criticism those mothers received from the rest of us...we could drive in those days with open containers in our cars!! And we did!! We smoked in grocery stores and traffic courts and teachers' break rooms and offices and hospitals(!!)...you get the picture...it was crazy where we all smoked...and this was up into the early 90's! I'll be curious to see what happens in the future...

The legalization and increased adoption of weed and gambling is going to make our society much worse. That is reason enough to dislike them but the smell of weed and constantly advertisements for "daily fantasy" and "prediction markets" is just as awful to me personally.

Biggest lobbyist spend to keep weed illegal in Texas - the alcohol and tobacco industries. When in doubt, follow the money.

Some history, In 1989 I ruptured two discs in my lumbar region during spring training (Thank you Stan Thomas lol). It was later discovered I had stenosis of the lumbar, effectively ending my playing career. This injury started to effect me more and more as I aged. Five years ago, I had to give up golf. Ever so often the pain gets intense and I do take some THC infused gummies in order to sleep. I am NOT against weed. I was only giving the moderators a hard time. I am no prude, but my wife kinda is when it comes to that, She comes from a super conservative culture (Mexican). I had to get her brother's approval to ask her out, I do drink, but limit myself to two Michelob Ultras per game

Alcohol probably is worse for you yes, but pot is horrible for your lungs. And for the edible crowd out there, it’s horrible for brain development in young adults. The incredibly high THC count nowadays isn’t being researched enough for the effects it has on the brain. In 20 years we are going to see just how bad it is. Acting like marijuana is some miracle substance with no side effects is just as bad as thinking alcohol is fine.

Let me guess….you drink alcohol like a fish, yet if an individual smokes marijuana it’s the worst thing in the world? I have 27 years in the medical field and I can tell you that alcohol is much more dangerous to the body than marijuana, it just so happens that the lobbyist got alcohol legalized.
