I get the feeling weds entrants will be a major letdown. We would’ve heard about players planning to enter as we have throughout the process. Seems like the 11th hour secret entrants were just trying to renegotiate a return- like the guy who just returned to Texas. If they were really considering leaving, it would’ve been public.

There is no additional portal window. This is the only window this calendar year. Though, grad transfers will be in play at the conclusion of the spring semester from my understanding.

2 questions, 1 thread… Looking for expert insight. 1) Scheme & philosophy: What happened to the “big humans” offensive philosophy? It feels like what we talk about doesn’t match what we actually run on the field. We rarely line up under center, get downhill, and impose physicality. The shotgun-heavy, east–west approach might work against teams like Rice—but elite defenses (UGA, Ohio State) feast on it. Sark’s most effective offenses under Saban leaned on size, power, and wearing defenses down over four quarters. Why has that identity drifted, and is it intentional or personnel-driven? @jeffhowe I know you’re pretty savvy with o-line speak… 2) Roster management: Can someone clearly break down the current NCAA football transfer portal timeline? Specifically: key windows, is there another window before/after spring ball, and how that realistically impacts roster building and retention.

Let’s see what happens this week, but it would be very disappointing to have not addressed our biggest need. It was made very clear by Texas and OTF that OG was priority #1 at multiple phases of this process, so anything to the contrary would be blatant backtracking and revisionism. Still have confidence it gets resolved in one way or another but it’ll be interesting to see if/how the narrative shifts if they can’t address it fully.

You said initially it was the single position that killed our chances. I don’t believe it’ll ever come to down to one position. I have watched those games just in the last week. I’d stand on the thought any one win versus Ohio State, UF or Georgia gets us in the playoff. With that said, versus OSU, Baker allowed the most pressures and the most penalties. Campbell had a hold that negated a 2nd and 3 inside the OSU 35 or so. A play or two later we throw a pick. On drive 1 and and the late drive from the 1, they were snuffed from the right side of the line. So certainly not all on the LG. UF is crazy one. The defense wasn’t good. I’m still baffled by the Brooks play. I don’t blame him but, yes, that was individually the most problematic position in this game. But we seemingly have some momentum then Brooks gets back to back penalties then we throw a pick. I can’t begin to understand the decision here but even so the defense didn’t do their job. I think special teams gave up 2 but also failed to kill a punt inside the UF 5, if I remember correctly. In my opinion, this was a total team cluster. Then Georgia. There were a number of good individual plays but tons of missed opportunities here. We struggled to pass protect from the LG spot but likely less egregious than the drops and the defense and special teams falling apart. Also, pass protection had some losses at multiple positions. LG was certainly the most curious and at times some of the ugliest play. Much of the critique falls on Stroh, when the precipitous drop was Brooks. Brooks had the 2nd lowest pass efficiency rating in the past 5 years. I do not think we’ll have that again. We didn’t get that out of Stroh. We didn’t get it out of Hutson. We didn’t get it out of Neto in his short tenure. I can’t imagine we would have gotten it out of Kibble. I don’t imagine we’ll get it next year. But no guarantees. All that said, I can’t blame our failures on one position. Far too many snaps for someone else to make that game changing play.

What is he supposed to say— yeah I’m about to play in the championship but I really want to go back to Texas for my senior season? No athlete has ever in the history of sports asserted their commitment to a team only to leave days later. Not saying he does end up at Texas, but I’m not putting any stock in quotes like that—especially when Bobby’s been hinting there might be interest there. As for your second statement, I guess we will have to see.

Brown and Smothers are a clear upgrade over the players who left. They force defenses to account for them on every snap and can turn ordinary plays into real damage, something the departing group simply did not provide.

Still feels crazy to me that Coleman is a longhorn!!!

I hope Sark & Co are trying to "with this out" until after the CFP game tonight and for the 5 days following when players from these last two teams are eligible to enter the portal.

I want Indiana to win. Gonna be hard for them to recreate the magic IMO. But Miami is a program I don’t want to get hot. Might slam the door shut on some of our Florida recruiting.

Texas has materially raised the ceiling of its top players, but the offensive line still needs reinforcement. The only true unknown remains left guard, and overall depth is still thin. Kyle Flood still has work to do.

These are the types of DBs that get me excited in a Muschamp defense.

Call me crazy but I’m hedging my happiness in this national championship game. I absolutely do not want Miami to win, so I’m putting $100 on them to win. If they do end up winning at least I got something out of it, but I’d rather lose $100 and Indiana take it home!

Yall ever put DragonForce on the radio at work just to watch peoples reaction? I just did. I got fired. But it was worth it.

What I think happened is that there are conversations happening behind the scenes with Lynch’s agent and they expect him to be their guy. But they don’t want to get burned again like before, so they planned to bring Church in for a visit to keep on the back burner in case Lynch doesn’t enter. But they didn’t expect church to commit to Tech so soon. If Lynch falls through, I think they bring in 1-2 experienced grad transfers to compete.
