I believe he visited Tech for their game vs UH. There strategy is to come hard with NIL early as most schools don’t get series about NiL until later. I believe Edwards is from Wichita Falls originally per article last week from OTF. Thus, Lubbock may not be such a stretch for him.

Tech seems willing to pay well-over market value when they ID a guy they really want. Recent examples include transfer edge David Bailey, whose offer was triple what most schools offered, and 5* OT recruit Felix Ojo. Supposedly Ojo was offered $5.1 million for 3 years even though he will most likely sit and “develop” for 1-2 years, and he was embarrassed by good edge rushers at camps before his senior season. No idea what the deal is with Edwards but that’s been the recent trend

I’m aware how early it is in the ‘28 cycle and that we haven’t really even begun to push for many guys in that class, but it seems like it came out of nowhere considering how much we’re prioritizing him. Did anything happen recently in this recruitment to give this prediction any substance behind it?
