  1. Past hour
  2. Where did he say that Flood was wrong? CTJ's point is that there might be more to the story as far as *why* Flood is doing it, not that Flood is an idiot. Though I think Bobby's explanation (Robertson is OL #6 and we need to prepare for what that means) does make sense.
  3. I trust Flood more than you on matters of offensive line.
  4. Just to be clear, do you think I was wrong here? Or uninformed?
  5. The saints prolly put that out there so they could fall to him
  6. Whoever thought he couldn't play tackle at the next level should do something else for work.
  7. This is true and his talent is evident, even Sark was recruiting him hard before Manning committed and both parties kinda just drifted apart. But this is in practice, no? When he was teams coming after him and in his face, can he still make those throws? Can he do this while progressing his reads, etc? The same is true for Manning. We've seen him under duress and come out to make plays and also struggle. Have you seen that from Sayin yet? Has he experienced that the college level? I do agree that it can't come soon enough, either way it'll be a fun game and I will say, I do appreciate you being cordial with us and not coming here to troll.
  8. We're not saying he's not good. We pointed out what he does well. Up and down this thread you'll see where we said he's an extremely talented passer of the football, highly accurate, processes and releases quickly. Pointing out athleticism, escaping ability, or arm strength isn't bashing him. It does and will show up. I truly believe we didn't score more touchdowns in the redzone because of Quinn's arm strength. Sayin is going to do just fine.
  9. To be honest, take that same gameplan against Smith and employ it again. Ohio State doesn't have the same caliber of RB's it had last year, their other WR's are good but not the caliber of Smith. Klare is a threat at TE but I think if you do what you did against Smith again and combine that with your pass rush to rattle Sayin, that is a recipe for success. Smith is his safety blanket. Sayin isn't as mobile as Howard and can't extend the play like he did and doesn't have the experience Howard had. Now their OL I'm not sure if it's as good or better, but they're replacing 4 starters like us. So, like our guys, will take some time to gel. No reason to over think it, imo. While they have other great WR's, none come close to Smith. Taking him out of the game (again) should be the main focus.
  10. Today
  11. I remember Sark was recruiting him really hard, and Sayin was liking what he heard, given Sark's rep for QB development. Then Arch committed to Texas (with just a one year gap to Sayin) and both sides kind of moved away from the recruitment. Had Arch not stuck with Texas it sure looked like Sayin was Sark's top pick in the next class - all this talk about his shortcomings is funny, we would have taken him in a heartbeat under different circumstances.
  12. Just an observation, but is there a reason that for whatever hash the ball is lined up on that's the side both QBs throw to? They almost never throw backside. Not saying they can't(even if that's how I feel) only that they don't.
  13. Yesterday
  14. Yep. People on here seem to be sleeping on the Ohio St OL. They will be good this year.
  15. Lufkin native in The Woodlands now. 🤘🏼 Have never had Big City Wings, but it looks good.
  16. Proofs my point that solid OT’s aren’t a dime a dozen in the portal. Flood prefers high school development route.
  17. Do Tanya Harding or Jeff Gallooley have any eligibility left?
  18. It’s been suggested before. Many times.
  19. Jeremiah Smith on Julian Sayin ”That arm is different. He can make any and every throw. Just a smart QB. He’s definitely going to be a guy. It’s going to be scary for opponents.” 8/30 can’t come soon enough! Is it just me or does just under two weeks feel like an eternity?
  20. I don’t comment much, but man this topic was explosive and entertaining! My guy really hold up the name tag…closetojumping…That being said; I get where he’s coming from on the surface. The timing is definitely odd. On the other side, I can also see why you at the least take a look at it. One of the first things it tells me, is the staff likes Baker and Brooks on the right side and doesn’t want to tinker with that dynamic
  21. I do for a number of reason, but mainly because instead of having a package he'll have a scripted plan that Sark has been implementing all summer. Either way the game still has to be played.
  22. I agree wholeheartedly. If this line, which should be full of maulers on the interior, doesn’t improve its run blocking, to me suggests there are issues with Flood’s scheme. I guess we won’t know until they actually start playing the games!
  23. OL development takes a couple of years in weight room and teaching techniques, K. Banks was a rarity and must starter as freshman. Bama, Georgia, tOSU seldom start freshmen or sophomores.
  24. Throwing the ball far isn't arm strength. Quinn could throw the ball 70 yards and nobody here would say he has a strong arm. Arch has arm strength and when he rips it you see it, evidenced by how quickly the ball gets on you. Sayin is a very talented passer and extremely accurate, but when throwing the ball from the opposite hash it dies on him.
  25. The guy Ohio State took from Rice that was considered one of the best in the portal looks like he isn’t even going to win a starting job. It is a tough way to make a living. Might be the hardest position to recruit in the portal.
  26. For me, I just want to see if the OL that they trot out there is improved in run blocking, especially at LG-C-RG. Part of what made Robinson and Johnson so special at Texas was their ability to create their own running lanes. However there were several times they had to shed a tackle right away to gain positive yards. Same thing with Brooks before he got hurt a couple of years ago. To be fair, the OL has shown glimpses of what it could be in run blocking (2022 Baylor game, end of the 2023 Bama game, OU, Kentucky, A&M, and Clemson last season) but just want to see more consistency in that regard. Eventually you want them to resemble the OLs of the early to mid 2000s. The pass pro has improved every year Flood has been here, and that seems to be the strength of his coaching, but the run blocking has not progressed at the same rate imo. Maybe with the last few players from the Herb Hand era gone and all of Flood’s guys there, you’ll see his unit become great at both. Hopefully, they’ll start to see the fruits of their labor this season.
