Top DTs in college football in ‘26

The discussions on Kanu are interesting. There really isn’t anything in his history to show that he was under consideration as a high draft pick. I’m not sure he has an overwhelming trait and his production is not particularly special. He hasn’t played a huge number of snaps either. I certainly have no inside information on what his draft grade was. In looking at PFF, I don’t see anything that has him inside the top 10 in grading. You are correct in that we played more difficult competition with respect to teams, but the OUs and OSUs were better defensively than offensively. They do show that in our 3 losses he only had 1 pressure. I wouldn’t say PFF skews things, but there certainly should be context applied to the information. Our opponents had Simmons and Hill to contend with whereas others may have been able to focus on the interior Dline. Overall, we have the personnel to be impactful, but it needs to happen. Kanu and Watson have received a bit more hype than what has been earned. They should be better, but we certainly need more impact plays from them. -

Man the refs are letting Notre Dame mail Vandy -
Schloss didn’t mislead the Aggies. There are no coaches that really want to be there. The Aggies don’t want to hear it. Truth hurts.

I was in company gym today and Aggy was wearing a Come and Take It shirt. Take what - I’m not sure. We’ve already stolen their soul. My friend suggested it must have been printed before we took Schloss. 🙂

Will wade vs Schloss departure
Glass Joe replied to Connor Vaughn's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Schloss was fleeing from a boss everyonr despised (much like Buzz Williams did a few months later), and going to a much preferred, higher pedigreed blue blood program to work for a boss he already had a close working relationship with. This happens every single day in corporate America. By contrast, Will Wade got fired for paying players and lying to his AD / investigators about it at LSU. He eventually took another P4 job at NC State, quit via email after one season, and went straight back to LSU to work for the exact same boosters with whom he conspired to illegally pay players and mislead investigators years earlier…except this time the boosters got rid of the old AD (S.Woodward) who was in the way last go around. Now, they’ve fully enabled Will Wade to be even more corrupt this time! Other than those pesky facts, the situations are very analogous. - Today

Couldn’t agree more. I think Kanu is gonna be a monster this year. -
Is this bulletin board material for Hero Kanu? Believe Hero is near the top 10 in PFF grades for returning IDL and he did it against some stiff competition. Some of those IDL in their top 10 are playing against a weaker schedule than Texas. PFF has gotten better but they are not perfect and the weaker matchups can skew ratings and make it harder to compare vs players with more challenging matchups. Regardless, Muschamp and Baker should have our IDL rotation playing at a pretty high level. Looking forward to seeing the development of January, Watson, Sharma, Terry and Charles. Believe a more fit Geffrard at NT will perform what he is asked to do at a high level if he can take the next step and get his pad level down. Overall, the TX IDL should play at a high level due to talent, further development, coaching, scheme and a complementary rotation allowing our top IDL players to stay fresher and go 100%. NT: Geffrard, Watson, Sharma January DT: Kanu, January, Watson, Terry, Charles, Johnson, Carlton

This feels more like hurt feelings than an honest question from the OP. Schloss left for good reasons and for a major job. Was the timing ideal? Of course not. There is no ideal time to leave a program. Somebody is always going to feel blindsided, offended, or betrayed. You can say it was awkward. Fine. You can say Aggies were angry. Obviously. But trying to turn it into some grand character indictment is a bit much. He made a career move. It was messy. That happens in college sports every year.

Will wade vs Schloss departure
JMarquette replied to Connor Vaughn's topic in On Texas Football Forum
He called him out because Will Wade got canned for paying players under the table, lol. Stop with the pearl grasping -
What thread are you referencing? Also, why would he mention something that happened a year and a half ago in a different sport that has nothing to do with Wade?
-
@Bobby Burton I’m a little surprised you called out Will Wade and the manner in which he departed NC State, but didn’t talk about Schloss’ departure from A&M. Let’s be honest, are they really that different? Wade took the cowardly way out in sending an email via his agent, while Schloss flat out misled people in that press conference. One can even call it lying. Both departures were pretty badly mishandled and I think both Schloss and Will Wade deserve to be ridiculed. What say you?

Live updates: Sean Miller, Texas players after loss to Purdue
ATX16 replied to Hank South's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Nic Codie grew on me the last couple of weeks. He has qualities that show up when he gets decent minutes. Good passer, good IQ, good shot selection. I think he's a solid piece on a good team.
