  2. I would rather see Texas play a team like Texas State, Houston, TCU literally any Texas team in Austin than see Texas play an exhibition vs a mediocre team in a bowl game. If it's about getting backups reps, it would scratch that itch. It could be a celebration of the season at home and would cater to many more fans than the bowl game. Probably more revenue for Texas. Fans could make it a point to show up to the game out of financial support of the team (like the first game of the season against a nobody, which are actually some of my favorites to go to). And the added benefit relative to the first game of the season is it wouldn't be hot as hell. Could keep the party going on all day in Austin. Screw exhibition bowls against mediocre teams.
  3. Will be interesting to see how he handles the criticism and expectations. He came across as extremely thin skinned at Iowa St. Remember when he went after the fans who yelled something at him when he was upset by an inferior non-conference opponent a few years ago. Not sure if the 5 star culture speaches will work the same at a place like PSU.
  4. Michigan State received a $401M donation today from big booster Greg Willams and family. Around $290M of that will be directed towards the athletics. Good time to be Pat Fitzgerald as he enters 2026 as the Spartans next head coach.

  5. Everyone’s acting like the new 105-scholarship rule means Texas can suddenly bankroll a small army. Reality check: you can roster 105 guys, but you can’t pay 105 guys. Revenue sharing = a soft salary cap. NIL = still the hunger games. So what actually happens? Texas funds the top half of the roster, stashes projects in the bottom half, and the portal becomes a revolving door for anyone who realizes they’re in the “thanks for being here” tier. The new rule doesn’t create 20 more paid contributors — it just gives Texas 20 more lottery tickets. And Texas loves lottery tickets. Hook ’em.
  6. They probably take a few above the 85 limit that they want to hang onto or want to bring in, or have to, as you well noted, increase the number of women’s sports on campus. I mean. How many soccer teams can you field? Full contact Quidditch?
  7. He will do a great job.
  8. More seriously, a loss by Texas in a bowl game, especially to a sorry team like Michigan, WILL be used as justification for their exclusion in the CFP. Even if 50% of our team opts out while 100% of Michigan's team opts in. Happened to Bama in 2024 and FSU in 2023.
  9. This is going to be great news for program players and special teamers. This is akin to opening up 20 otherwise empty seats on an airplane.
  10. The SEC and the B1G together would include 10 of the top 12 teams every year without a G6 slot and no special ND treatment. The ACC and mediocre 12 are irrelevant anyway. Give them their own 4 team play in tournament for two slots, maybe??
  11. With as illogical as the CFP committee is, they will probably use a Texas loss to Michigan in a bowl game this year as a tiebreaker next year should it come to that.
  12. anyone hear anything about LSU potentially poaching LaAllen Clark for their defense staff? We need to do everything possible to keep him if that’s the case.
  13. The Bowl game is an exhibition that allows for multiple weeks of practice for the returning players, some of whom have not played significant minutes. It does not matter if Texas wins, although we would prefer that outcome. It only matters that returning offensive linemen who haven't played get to work out together for two or three weeks. Win or lose, seeing the "new": interior linemen, say Kibble, Cruz, and Brooks, working smartly together as a unit would be worth it to our team. Seeing them screw up again and again would be a lesson, as well. We get to watch and learn.
  14. @CJ Vogel What if the plan all along for PSU was to scrap recruiting this year and just go hogwild in the portal. They are big enough to be able to buy their way out of this hole. Saving the recruiting NIL money for portal.
  15. Did I miss something? Is Royal thinking of reclassifying?
  16. You don’t say? I actually thought losing to Florida was a good thing, so thanks for clarifying
  17. Pressure will be off Campbell for a few years with this recent coaching hire/recruiting debacle.
  18. The amount of pride i can feel from the OP when they posted is great! How long did it take you to figure out the formula and come up with this great insight?
  19. Different conference so Franklin has an easier path. Would love to see him win a natty before the PSU make the playoff again haha.
  20. I’m guessing Jimmy Sexton doesn’t rep him haha. Failing forward is better than what Florida, Arkansas, and Auburn have done IMO.
  21. Now that's going to be interesting. Hadn't thought of it like that just yet.
  22. Another useless thread about the CFP, Huh? Shouldn’t have NEVER lost to florida and this conversation wouldn’t even need to be had.
  23. Wow, I didn’t realize not losing to UGA would have made us 10-2 with another top 10 win! 😂 The annoying thing is that people and the CFP committee don’t take into account the actual way the game was played, just the final score. And they’re not even consistent with it. For instance, the following combination: 1. Texas had the ball with the ability to tie both the OSU and Florida games late in the 4th quarter. But we got “dominated” 2. Texas was up on Vandy by 24 pts in the 4th quarter before starting to play prevent with backup DBs and run the clock out. Vandy was down by 10 pts until 33 seconds left. The last they had the ball with the opportunity to tie the game was their first possession, a 4 play 4 yard drive ending in a fumble. But that’s a “close game” and not “domination”
  24. It will be interesting to see if Campbell does better at PSU than Franklin at VT.
