Texas women's basketball portal thread
Califashorn75 replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
All fair points, however, there just comes a point that we have to move on. I am among the biggest fans of Longhorn women's hoops on here and was perplexed when the three entered the portal. But after a few days of doing my research, and a confidante within the program's analysis, I just figured it was time to focus on the positive. What are those? An amazing coaching staff, a head coach who wins, 5 incredible incoming recruits, and a rabid, loyal fan base. I am looking forward to next year. However, there still might be a surprise recruit or two knocking on our door. - Today

That’s a reasonable measuring point for the preseason. It slightly highlights my point about UTSA/Texas St. If this were to hold, they are vastly better than the two Ohio State non-conference opponents once you remove Texas and OSU. The point about Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska is that they are likely to be similar to prior years. Iowa will likely be solid defensively and at Oline but likely fall to more talented teams with 1 upset mixed in. Similar for the other two. Michigan has a good but aging coach and has struggled offensively the past two years so it’ll be prove it in my opinion. I don’t believe our opponents are overwhelmingly talented, but they’re capable of presenting problems. Our opponents present more of a grind to the season.

Which Texas team you taking?
Here for the Wins replied to Rocky P's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Hampton is underappreciated. When you evaluate for college and pro career, he might have the best resume on the list. Believe he was an immediate impact player at both levels. 329 tackles, 54 tackles for loss. At Texas. Led the team in tackles two years in a row. 12 NFL seasons, 5 Pro Bowls. From afar, he was asked to play a different role in the NFL than what he played at Texas. And succeeded to a high degree. Mike Davis is the outlier on the list. Certainly, there’s no way he was better than Limas Sweed. Roy is 1. Shipley and Worthy are very close. Drop to #4. Ehlinger and Colt are underrated. Arch is TBD. The other 3 QBs is an incredible triumvirate if you needed a late score to win you the game. Of the RBs, I’m not sure how I rank the top 3 but Benson is 4th with a decent drop off from the first 3. Bijan and Earl had unique traits above Williams so maybe he’s 3. On that last column, Hill is a bit TBD, but the others are quite a choice. Thomas’s college career was more brief so maybe that sits him at the 3 spot. -
Team 4, gotta go with the Rose.
-
Team 3

Team 1 could be pretty gnarly. X over the top bc you’d have to stack the box to stop both Ehlinger, who was basically a fullback that could pass, AND Ricky…with Earl and Casey. Man that’s a sneaky good one.

Good interview. Sark looks like he's in great physical shape...credit to him for walking the talk unlike so many other coaches.
-
Better than I thought they’d be.
-
Team 3 and its not close
-
3...easy choice.

Sark: “I rely on the expertise of Kyle Flood…” @Joe Zura is in shambles

to be fair to the original question, I think you're dodging the real question here. It seems the reasons you give here are secondary reasons: given that these players were leaving Texas, why they chose the specific transfer destinations they did (although reporting is that Lee did not actually go for the biggest bag, but that's a different storyline quibble). As nosy fans, we (I) want to know the real story on what happened in Nashville, and how it was/not handled and why, and the fallout that could have affect two shots at a championship with Madi (this year and now next year). That is the real ask. Realistically, we understand we likely won't be told, because we don't have inside sources like the one that told you in confidence, and because folks who do know are cooperating with keeping the real story buried. But that was the ask — not, for example, why Crump chose Duke against the field of other suitors but why she jumped into the transfer market in the first place. "End of story" is not just patently wrong but is giving "please stop looking at this, nothing to see here, we promise!" The silence from many different parties has been deafening (including lack of reporting), the vibes stink, and it's frustrating as a fan. -
Team 3, no question. All day every day. I’m taking the Team 3 players head to head but also collectively as a team. QB: VY by a mile RB: this might be recency bias, but Bijan is on par or just a step down from the all-time great RBs. I think Jeff argued recently on a pod that Bijan has a chance to be the greatest Longhorn to ever play in the NFL. In any event, I view all four RBs as basically equivalent. WR: Mike Davis is clearly not in the same league as the other three, but he was still damn good in college. He was better than anyone VY played with in 05 (Pittman, Sweed, etc). VY wouldn’t need a Shipley or Worthy to kick the other teams’ asses. DB: Give me the only Thorpe winner on this list. Huff Daddy all day baby Other defense: DJ is the best defensive player in the modern era of longhorn football Come on, man. It’s really not that close.

3, not even close

Team 2

Some people criticize Josh Pate but I do think he does a good job during these interviews. There is always a few good things to hear from them
-
I don’t think that’s apart of the game plan. They are just gonna have to be run and gun and outscore people
-
Team 3 all day.
-
May come as a suprise but I’m actually going Team 2. Very tough decision though!

The talent is wild now. Back in Cheryl Miller’s day, nobody had to deal with Vic Schaefer’s defense breathing down their neck for 40 minutes. 😀 -

Coach Vic has had a great run since being here and I don't see that train slowing down. It's just that there are so many great teams out there nowadays. The talent at the high school and Euro level is really getting good too. These are not the same players that Cheryl Miller dominated. -
@Gerry Hamilton @Bobby Burton @Marcus Myers @Joe Zura @Bunk Moreland @Jeff Howe @CJ Vogel @Hank South Here is a fun one! Which team are you taking? I'm leaning team 4 because they feel the most complete of the teams. Team 3 is scary though just because you sre pairing up VY and Bijan
