McWilliams is a great guy and a Texas guy all the way but he had fewer skins than spurrier. Makes sense that Steve was butt hurt by that.

Can you imagine if Mackovic had never been at Texas? He was such a bad coach, stuck up, and not a leader of Texas. We may have had the visor and more wins but no Ricky probably. What a different trajectory we would’ve had if either one of those guys had ended up here. Bottom line Johnny Mack was the wrong guy.

It seems like a lot of people are picking Tennessee to beat us. That’s what this team needs right now. A bunch of doubt and hate to make them prove people wrong and that Ohio State wasn’t a fluke. Because that is what people want to believe—that we lucked into the win at home and we are overrated. I want to prove them all wrong.

Correct. It was Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer who returned that were all future lottery picks and Florida also returned Taurean green, Lee Humphreys who had cups of coffee in the pros.

For sure. Yep, Noah, Horford and Brewer came back. So they returned all 5 starters, with Taurean Green and Lee Humphrey. Absolutely it has ... Florida's Thomas Hough this past year. He was a first round pick, and chose to come back for big NIL. Probably Rueben Chineylu on Florida too. If a guy is a 2nd round pick, they are coming back due to NIL ... Juke Harris now at Tennessee, Milan Momcilovic now at Kentucky, Alec Condon at Florida, couple of bigs at Illinois, Tyler Tanner at Vandy, Jeremy Fears at Mich State , etc...

Let’s just get outta Knoxville with a dub. I’m interested to see how OU responds to UGA too. I think SC and Oregon are pretenders in the big 10. SC’s defense just doesn’t see to be getting the swagger and intensity from a Patterson defense. Other than what they did to Fresno State. Rutgers was straight up embarrassing imo. Oregon, not sure what to make of that dumpster fire other than hope we use that as a lesson of how not to play on the road against a dangerous team.

The timeline for Spurrier and wanting Texas was when David McWilliams was hired. Just to correct. Asked a guy that would know that timeline.

I remember this vaguely so stand to be corrected. Florida won a Natty with 3 or 4 NBA eligible players who chose to come back for a second run. At the time it was written that the players who chose to return were unusually placed as sons of financially successful parents who therefore felt no money pressure to leave early. Now NIL can remove the financial pressure to leave early. My question to those who have followed this closely: Has NIL been a motivator for any NBA eligible and likely first round choice to return?

Knew they had to be something . He does not like Texas. Thinking there will be many more picking Tenn. in this one. If true we passed on him and Stoops, maybe Deloss was not as sharp as we thought. Don't think Mack was his first choice either.

Saw this the other day and it reminded me of the 4th down play where Arch threw it into the proper window and Mosley was there. So much is trusting the read with anticipation.

Just posted in another thread it appears that Arch is looking for the perfect throw while convincing himself it isn’t there. He has low trust in either the receiver or his ability to get the ball to him. I agree with you that he needs to be throwing the receiver open but he seems scared to throw a pick. Hes gotta get over that fear in SEC play or our defense is gonna get worn out being on the field too long. Keeping the faith.🤘

i was also reading that a few of their DL are banged up as well as the starting RB. Not sure if that's true or not.

2-3 defensive starters were in fall camp, and out for season. The TE was ACL in Georgia Tech game.

For sure. Texas has the best quality depth potential I have seen on a roster. Miller and staff can go 10-11 deep with role players (some major and some spot roles) against high-major opponents… with the understanding the bench will get shorter at times, to likely 9.5, as the season gets closer to February and March. What that depth means … it’s good on paper with chance to be very good in season to deal with inevitable missed practice time and games here and there from a frontline player misses due to injury. The biggest challenge Sean Miller and staff (and other programs in the same position) face is it’s all easy right now before roles are defined. Three or four players inevitably won’t have as many minutes on court consistently as they thought once rotations are defined, and when they signed/transferred to Texas. Does the entire team remain focused and locked in the same way once that happens, as they have been all summer and early in practice? When the Marcus Spears Jr. possibility presented itself … that changed the rotation and minute distribution for others. Great for the Texas team and program. Good problem to have for Texas. But the human nature of having this type of depth that will be built in the non-con will challenge when adversity hits. Really like having a no BS coach like Sean Miller to handle/navigate through the scenarios that could arise throughout a season. And I will say, it’s cool to have this convo about Texas basketball. These are blue blood basketball problems one always reads and talks to other fan bases about.
