Apologies for the link showing a different site but here’s his comments… says they’ll look at scheduling differently in the OOC games

Great job by Sark.  I'm glad Texas is putting the threat out there to change their OOC schedule based on what the CFP committee does.  College Football doesn't wanna lose those OOC elite games, otherwise the first 4-5 weeks of the season are going to be super boring and hard to market.

  • Five top 10 ranked opponents played
  • 6-1 2nd half of season. Four of those teams ranked in top 10 and 3-1 in those games.
  • Didn’t play at home for 42 straight days
  • 3-2 against top 10 with only losses to Georgia and Ohio St on road and outgained OSU by 150+ yards with chance to tie or win at end of game.
  • Teams in front of Texas that haven’t played any top 10 teams. Is this about what your record is or your quality?
  • Dig at Miami for throwing fade TD at end of game for style points
  • Is committee watching games? What are they doing differently then the AP if they just look at the loss column?
  • If they’re only looking at losses then no reason to schedule difficult non-conference games.

Exactly why Texas under CDC needs to challenge the NCAA and the Committee for gross incompetence for its initial rankings.  It was performed on a fan basis as opposed to a due analysis basis.  They prioritized absolute loss number number over head to head and strength if schedule numbers.  If the NCAA is allowed to penalize programs for seeking competitive schedules, the the decline of NCAA viewers is guaranteed.  No one wants to spend 3 hours watching any SEC team beating up on Samford level teams.

CDC needs to take the bit in his teeth and demand answers from the Committee based on the facts.  If he dies not get them straight up or a correction in seeding, sure the NCAA and ask for an injunction to suspend the playoffs.  That will get their attention.  And the NCAA will always fold!!

Carpe Diem!!

Part of that paycheck is going full politician mode, I am sure this falls in the unglamorous part of being a head coach lol

At least it’s easy for him to make the argument with all the quality data he has! He’s not just out there trying to drum up support for a mediocre schedule. He has legitimate points that could have long lasting implications on college football. Imagine if basketball did the same format? It would be a mess too and you’d get zero quality games early in the season like a Texas UVA or Kentucky Duke. Instead you’d have a bunch of sacrificial lambs until conference play happened and no real idea how good teams actually are for the viewer or more importantly the players themselves.

All valid points but it’s a tough argument to win when there are so few spots available:

1. Ohio State
2. Indiana
3. Georgia
4. ACC champ
5. G5 team
6. Oregon
7. Texas Tech
8. Texas A&M
9. Ole Miss (May be effected by coaching)
10. (another G5 conference if Duke wins ACC)
11.
12.

So you're basically looking at 2, maybe 3, maybe 4 spots between:
Miami 10-2
Notre Dame 10-2
BYU 11-1
OU 10-2
Alabama 10-3 (if losing to Georgia, if not they're both in)
Utah 10-2
Vandy 10-2
Texas 9-3

Here’s my only hypothetical:

1. Ohio State (BIG)
2. Indiana
3. Georgia (SEC)
4. Virginia (ACC)
5. G5 winner
6. Oregon
7. Texas Tech (B12)
8. Texas A&M
9. Ole Miss
10. Miami
11. Notre Dame
12. Texas

1) We have to be ranked over Utah, Vandy and OU on Tuesday night for this to work.

2) Bama gets destroyed in SECCG game committee picks 9-3 Texas over 10-3 Bama

3) BYU 11-2 big loss to Tech - OUT

4) Utah, OU and Vandy get shafted.

Seems the same that if the committee is going to say they are not going to penalize  for playing a conference title game, then a non conference game with a top 10 team should also not count as detrimental.

Bama is not going to be left out, they lead the SEC going into the conference championship game.

imo it’s the Notre dame live fest that trumps Texas because among the names at the bottom half, only Notre dame has the same type of national pull as Texas.

if Texas doesn’t make the cfp, maybe that’ll light a fire under Sark to run up the score next year on everyone.  He sounds pissed enough last few days.

also Sark needs to politic for the team to go to the cfp to keep the team’s trust in him. If he says they don’t deserve to go, then likely there’d be some fallout with the players.  It’s like an old boss of mine always said to us - “I’ll always have your back if you keep me in the loop. Even if you screw up.”

This is the problem, claiming head to head over Vandy and OU is the only way to move us ahead of them (and BYU which would be ahead of Utah), and unlikely Bama drops out.  Not saying we don't deserve it, just a complete human intervention over the data driven components.

Beating directional state instead of losing to Ohio State isn't what puts us over these teams; the SOS hit hurts and computer algos still see the struggles vs mid teams. The Florida loss is concrete on our ankles.

Also ironic our fate would depend on Manny iaz and uke.

Does Texas actually follow through with the threat if we don’t get in?

Does the ncaa wanna find out?  We do it and it will start a cascade of other teams following suit.

The loss to FSU is worse for Bama than our loss to Florida
