I expect there to be interest from Texas, but we will see. Is he a burner? Not much need for an outside guy who isn't. 3 Quote

drag worm Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I’ll just say this. Sark was on a roll with the portal when he started building around Ewers. Getting AD was the perfect pairing to X. Getting Golden was a stroke of genius and paring him with Bond was an elite move. Arch deserves those kinds of first round draft picks around him at Texas. Yes, OL is priority one. But getting an elite RB1 who defenses have to game plan around and getting a WR1 who can take the top off a defense is also imperative if we are wanting to really go all in and maximize our time with Arch. So far we’ve let him down imo. 7 Quote

Whether those dudes stay or portal I’m not sure you go into the Ohio state game thinning they are difference makers. And that should be our number one priority for building around Arch to start next season. Difference makers in the Ohio State game. Nothing less. 2 Quote
DeepEddyHorn Posted December 2 Posted December 2 My wish list: OL - 4 RB - 1-2 WR - 2 TE - 1 DE - 1 DT - 1 LB - 2 S - 1 2 2 Quote
40AcresDust Posted December 2 Posted December 2 (edited) @CJ Vogel have you all heard what positions the staff might be targeting or evaluating for portal help? I think OL (x3) is obvious, but RB (x1) and LB (x1) seem like the only other areas where we NEED an upper classman or help. Edited December 2 by 40AcresDust 1 Quote
AusMOJO Posted December 2 Posted December 2 My uneducated opinion is that the focus should be quality OL players, mostly interior and a #1 RB. Wisner has his moments but isn't consistently involved and is typically not a difference maker. So for me, something like this should be the focus: 3-4 IOL 1 RB 1 NT 1-2 LB 1 CB 1 S 1 K 1 P After all that, then look for other stuff. Right now, I don't think Marsh is a massive upgrade over what we have. If you give these guys a proper off-season to work with Arch, unlike this previous one, I think that makes a world of difference. We also need to decide what we want to do schematically and stick with it. 4 Quote
Glass Joe Posted December 2 Posted December 2 10-13 total needed, by position 3 IOL (2 starting Guards, 1 OC to push Robertson for starting role) 1 swing OT (young OT who can spot start if needed in 2026) 1 WR (elite only, if available) 1-2 RBs (1 starter, and a J.Blue type of speed RB who can catch, if available) 1 QB - Matthew Caldwell redux 1 NT - Cole Brevard redux 1 ILB - run stopper / thumper 1 CB - At least good enough to be CB3 1 Safety - Starter quality 1 PK - Mason Shipley redux 2 Quote

Joe Naural Posted December 2 Posted December 2 (edited) Jaden Baugh should be #1 priority. yes he is the best rb in college fb. But id gradually transition him to Hback- TE. He could play 10-15yrs as TE in nfl… Texas Poney packsge- Cooper/wisner w Baugh w Arch! Jaden Baugh is most dynamic player in college fb. Best rb fields punts catch block Life span as rb is 2-8 yrs . i would transition him from rb to playcatchin Hb-Te 10-15 running plays 5-10 catching … blockin…as hb te Edited December 2 by Joe Naural 1 1 2 Quote

Moderators CJ Vogel Posted December 2 Author Moderators Posted December 2 It is going to be really interesting to see how many kids actually portal out of Texas. That will obviously impact the numbers on how many the staff can import. My estimations go like this – OL (2x-3x), RB, S, CB, LB, DL or 2 makes sense again. 3 1 Quote
