  1. they let us run the ball and just double covered all the WRs to befuddle Arch/Sark.
  2. sorry i meant baseball not being played @ high level world-wide. basketball definitely has some european leagues.
  3. You mean like the olympics? Or just one sport specific event--like Rugby and Cricket. Also, basketball has the FIBA championships every 4 years, and baseball has the World Baseball Classic. The problem with those as compared to soccer is that soccer is just so much more widespread. Not many countries play cricket or rugby (basically just former British colonies except the US) competitively. Even basketball and baseball are not really played at a high level in too many countries (maybe Japan or Korea and some caribbean/south american countries?) wheras the Spanish league, Italian league, Premier league are all considered better than the MLS. Even the Dutch and Turkish leagues have a history of producing competitive teams and there's all the teams in South America and now the African Continent. Anyway, my favorite part is seeing the visitors trying texas BBQ and Chik-fil-a and drinking all the beer in places like Boston. I live in Philly and all the Croatians and Ghanians were out this past weekend. Amazing.
  4. I will say that i am now of the opinion that college softball is more exciting that college baseball. The smaller field means more HRs and the potential for infield (slap) hits. The dominance of previous pitchers used to make the games pretty boring because nobody was getting on base. Also, the shorter games make each inning and at bat more important and there's less breaks for pitching changes to specialists (someone coming for one lefty batter or the set up man and closer). I also like how there are some transfers but a lot of 4-year players (reese atwood, stewie, kavan, vicky martinez, goode, etc). You really get invested in the team. Baseball still has a bit of the mercenary feel with players coming in for one year and then leaving for the draft (although that could change i guess with recent proposals from MLB). Softball has evolved so there is more hitting and offense now as well. There is also a premium on good defense as we saw in the CWS where errors and mental lapses can cost you. Finally, the potential of a run rule is also fun to watch--i wish we could have run-ruled Tech in Game 3 last year! But happy that we won two years in a row now! Hook 'em.
  5. he took the signing bonus from cody c. now stuck to tech unless LSU or Florida buys him out. Crazy that college football has come to this--like corporate head hunters.
  6. i hope our track program can turn it around.
  7. was KL out front? looks fast!
  8. Oops. Sorry. Thought Torres was another pitcher. If she’s a big bat, then by all means come on down!
  9. if we get Lincoln, would we really need Torres too? Need a big cleanup bat to protect Stewie.
  10. I agree to an extent--if he plays, then yes. If he never plays, then it's just bad publicity for him--they didn't break any rules of playing someone that should have been ineligible. my 2 cents.
  11. Love that she is in a horns cheerleader outfit as a little! I’ve got one of my daughter like that too. Here’s hoping!
  12. Good luck Coach! Thanks for cheering on the horns and helping them win it all twice! I remember her giving Atwood the fist bumps after she hit the intentional walk attempt in last years championship.
  13. Hey Jeff, cozart only faced 6 batters (like Kavan in her relief appearance). He was also nails!
  14. How does this relate to the standings shown during the softball games of men’s and women’s programs. Texas only shows up on the women’s but not near the top. how does that translate to being #1 overall?
  15. Would not have expected her to go yard. But will take it. Let’s go back to back.
