C.J Vogel's Dating Red Flags And Football Recruiting

In reference to C.J's dating red flags....no chicks with butterfly tats on her elbow, no girls who film themselves working out at the gym, etc,,

What were some of the "Red Flags" when it comes to recruits?

For me, it is the guys who spend too much time promoting themselves on social media.  As much as I was excited about the possibility of getting Evan Stewart a few years ago, it didn't take me long to tire of his constant self-promotion.  IF you are great, others will promote you.

Another huge red flag for me would be a guy who already has a criminal record in high school.  I think Texas does a great job of vetting these types but other programs seem to attract them....Georgia.

 

For the record, we should stay away from recruits with butterfly tattoos on their elbow.  I side with CJ on this.

I agree wholeheartedly on the social media guys. To add to that, the recruits who spend all season posting about "proving people wrong" and calling out haters and doubters. Just get to work.

Another red flag is top rated recruits who are not considered captains for their squad on their senior season.

A study I have always wanted to get into is kids who commit to 3 or more different schools, what is their success rate/bust rate at the next level and how often are they to transfer out of their first school. I am way out on most kids who commit and flip to three or more schools.

Well how does the social media aspect of this thread handle the fact that the best recruit in the class has his own "brand" Acktinup or something similar.

Are we ignoring that?

in this day and age, i'm not to concerned about social media promoting.  It is what is now.  I'm more concerned with the flip floppers.  you know they are going to be the first in the portal after 1 season if they aren't starting or playing significant snaps.

I remember North Shore had a RB the same year Bijan was a senior.  He got kicked off his team before the state championship.  One school revoked his offer and he ended up at TCU.  I remember him playing but never reached the level of Bijan.  Bijan is a good human so there is that

Zach Evans.. randomly retired before the season. I never heard a story on wtf that was about.

CJ you have the wrong idea. There are dating red flags and marrying red flags. If you are dating to find a life partner that’s one thing, dating to have some fun is another. The standards are decidedly different. For finding a life partner, a lower back tattoo is unacceptable. In a classic line from Wedding Crashers,”Might as well be a bullseye.” But for dating it might be an acceptable indicator.

There’s a difference between dating flags and marriage flags, just like there’s a difference between a portal rental and a four-year program guy. Butterfly elbow tat? Maybe fun for a weekend. Probably not someone you’re giving a locker room key to for five years.

Lower-back tattoo = transfer risk.
Three commitments = early portal entry.
“Proving the haters wrong” posts = NIL renegotiation coming by October.

CJ’s just trying to save Texas from recruiting the human equivalent of a bullseye tramp stamp. Can’t blame him for playing the long game.
