Barrick has told me that they pretty much ran the same offense Texas did. Herman took a lot of what Greg Davis was doing and did it in San Marcos.

This game has turned into a laugher.

Brad Jackson broke Barrick Nealy's 20-year school record for total offense on a drive that ended with his third touchdown pass of the game. He also has a rushing touchdown.

Texas State has a 41-7 lead over Rice with 9:10 left in the game.

That's not surprising lol. I also remember hearing that in the summer before, Vince put out a message to any db's in the area to come run 7 on 7 against the Texas receivers and tight ends, and only Texas State's took the challenge

They did that for a few summers. It was 2010 or 2011 when it stopped because it started to get chippy to the point that they weren't productive sessions.

That sounds logical. Also, some of the freshman players put an intramural flag football team together and made it halfway through the season before the coaches found out and pulled the plug on it. They were out there playing "two hand touch" instead of flag lol. Was a bit of an eye opener lol

Texas State destroys Rice in the Armed Forces Bowl, 41-10.

The Longhorns’ three 2026 non-conference opponents (TXST, Ohio State and UTSA) all finished 2025 with winning records.

Arkansas and Florida are the only non-bowl teams on the ‘26 schedule and Mississppi State is the only other team that will finish 2025 with a losing record.

it looks like Texas State is going to keep its quarterback, Brad Jackson, out of the portal, which is good for the Bobcats.

Got to visit briefly with GJ Kinne at the Armed Forces Bowl Luncheon, told him if he hadn't left TEXAS, he'd have won the National Title in 2009.   Mack going with John "I'd rather play basketball" Chiles as QB2 pushing Kinne out the door was a bad call.   And Hamilton should remember, as I said it at the time.

 

In other look who I ran into news, Blaine Irby's Mom still flies as a flight attendant for Southwest, we had a great visit, very nice lady, Blaine still loves his time at TEXAS.

Looking at Winsipedia, we've played Texas State once, back in 1930.

Texas State was then named Southwest Texas State Teachers College (I did not know the school's original purpose was to train the future public school teachers of Texas).

Texas won 36-0, led by Head Coach Clyde Littlefield in his 4th season. Southwest Texas State was led by Oscar W. Strahan in his 12th season.

Texas went 8-1-1 (4-1, SWC) and won the Southwest Conference.
