Your narrow vision fails to see that Texas is not going into the season with 80 scholarship players.... there is just not enough money....The herd is thinning... adjust your mindset. Hook'em

A large part of this so called doom and gloom is many players care more about money than having Texas on their jersey. Personally I prefer players that really want to play for our team. If it turns into the pro sports economic all or nothing attitude, I'll quit following college sports also. Until then, Hook Em !!!

My vision isn’t narrow as much as I think our philosophy this year sucks, but we are talking about 2 different things.  I was addressing allocation of finances to retention vs portal and trusting the process with what you got and having players mature and get better who know your system.  We were still offering bags (so there is money) just not to existing players.   If you want to talk about if there enough money period, there should be plenty of money.  Get creative and manufacture 3rd party deals. We have one of if not the largest living alumni in the country.   How you directly pay for this is not pay the players within the cap, use direct money to create staff to find or generate these opportunities so every player you want is making a million.  Paying within the rules with direct money is lazy.  Find a way around it like everyone else is, and I don’t think you have to cheat.  Figure it out. We have resources to be the best at this too.  I don’t know, maybe it will work out .

I’m with you on much of your discussion here.  This year is different.  Feels a bit desperate.  I’m not sure the all in mantra was necessary.

We were pretty damn close this year.  I’m pretty confident one or more of the guards we lost will be decent elsewhere.

The roster number will be interesting.  You can get lower level guys to fill it out for virtually nothing.  Do we want them though?

I dont think it is fair to say people who have doubts about the strategy this portal are doom and gloomers, specifically when it comes to oline. We can acknowledge that there is still time while recognizing that the mis-evals in the oline room and striking out on their top 2 targets (without a clear backup plan) is a big red flag. 
like you said time to fix, but we need 5 bodies. Need to close and nail the evals. The latter gives me more concern than the former.
