So based on this logic he should not have fired PK since this is the argument against firing Flood

No, incorrect. First, PK demonstrated a consistent inability to marry the back and front end. He only had one year at Texas in which his secondary was elite. He also was philosophically not aligned with what Sark wanted, ie an aggressive defense. From Sark’s perspective, Muschamp is an upgrade over PK and better aligned with Sark’s own philosophy. With PK, the bad secondary was a trend, not a one-off. Compare that with Flood—philosophically aligned, consistent improvement through 2024, only one “off” year in 2025, and Sark thinks Flood is the best OL coach available. If any of those variables change, then firing Flood becomes more reasonable.

Kyle Flood completely changed the OL dynamic at Texas from a national joke that hadn’t had a first-round draft pick for 20 years into a team strength by 2024. The 2024 line wasn’t perfect but it was one of the best in the country and to say otherwise is to be blinded by confirmation bias.

He developed Christian Jones from a terrible waste of talent who could barely walk straight into an NFL player. He developed Goosby from a skinny basketball player into a likely top-15 draft pick. The whole country was laughing at Kelvin Banks after his all-star camp performance his senior year, but look at what he became. Jake Majors and Hayden Conner got so much crap from Texas fans, but under Flood they became NFL players.

His recruiting has been up and down, no doubt. It’s insane that the cupboard was so bare last year. But that’s every bit on Sark and his roster management as it is on Flood. Flood’s IOL development has not been great, but I think that’s as much a problem with the “large humans” philosophy as anything. And recruiting massive linemen who can’t move was fully a Sark-endorsed idea.

As bad as the line was to start last year, the job Flood did to turn it into a solid unit to end the year does not get enough credit.

Has he made mistakes? Absolutely. I still think the reliance on unproven young players last year was inexcusable. But yall are going to run the man out of town, and we are just going to have to live with the results. But be careful what you wish for.

OL average PFF ratings for the last two games of the regular season:

Texas aTm: 63.5

Texas: 64.4

I’m not defending anything  or anyone, just sound reasoning. The whole season for atm is behind a paywall for PFF. So Blake or @CJ Vogel could look. Point is the “struggles” this year were not just OL. QB, RB etc all play a part in what we see.

The problem with the whole Flood argument is this ... he doesn't do a single thing from coaching, to personnel, to recruiting decisions, etc... without the head coach being in lock step. And thats just the facts.

So that's where all these singular arguments about the OL coach that is the HC, play caller and ultimate decisions maker on offers get's interesting.

They are the SAME.

How is this different from any other program? Most head coaches have final say and don’t let assistants do whatever they want.

Using this logic would mean no assistant coach at any program is worthy of criticism because the head coach always has final say and that’s just not the way it works.

And I say that as someone who is far from being completely out on Flood. I know that coaches are far from perfect.

So how does that adjust the thoughts and calling for the OL coaches job?

What exactly is the point of Kyle Flood if he has no agency and apparently no ability to make decisions regarding any facet of the OL? Follow up question, why has Kyle Flood remained at Texas if his every decision is overruled by Sark? Perhaps Sark will pull a rabbit out of a hat and address LG, but, as things currently stand, they've failed to address an obvious weakness. I think fans can be forgiven for not giving them the benefit of the doubt after last year's OL and believing that one of the true sophomores is the answer there.

Tell me this. How did we go 35-8 last three years and make playoffs twice and should have this year without decent Oline play.

Exactly! Sometimes i wish these spoiled ass whiny types could experience 5-7 and the REAL offensive line mismanagement we had the previous 20 years before flood.
