MJW2327 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Good - any side show that involves Tech is a nice distraction. Not to mention the clown ring leader “commissioner” Yormark 4 Quote
WRNC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Texas Tech was aware of the buyout clause during recruitment and has factored the $1 million into Sorsby's revenue-sharing budget as part of his one-year deal 1 Quote

Texas Tech is not named as a defendant in the suit and is not legally required to pay Cincinnati directly. Sorsby's representatives, however have stated he refuses to pay and plan to defend the lawsuit aggressively, calling the buyout an unlawful penalty. Quote

Similar NIL lawsuits: Darian Mensah: Mensah paid a significant sum. Damon Wilson II: Ongoing Jaden Rashada: reached an agreement, avoiding trial. Demond Williams Jr.: withdrew his intent to enter the transfer portal Quote

Why do these kids’ “representatives” think legally binding contracts aren’t enforceable? So important for schools like Cincinnati to pursue contract enforcement aggressively. Quote

Darian Mensah's case provides a blueprint for how the players' representatives have actively sought to avoid paying full contract buyouts. Both sides had too much to lose by going to court. They will likely shift to a settlement strategy to avoid a final stage trial. Quote

You're going to see more schools do this unless the framework changes. These players have to understand this free for all won't last forever. Sorsby signed a contract and breached it. Now he gets to deal with the consequences. Wouldn't surprise me to see someone cover the settled amount (as someone stated above). 1 Quote
