Moderators CJ Vogel Posted April 10, 2024 Moderators Posted April 10, 2024 Burrell had plans to enter the portal on Monday when the window opened. The linebacker out of North Crowley had been dealing with a back injury for most of the offseason and just recently added a shoulder injury to his report after a day in the weight room last week. To add to the fact, Burrell was not seeing eye to eye with Sarkisian from earlier in the offseason as well. Following the news of the Sweat incident, there was little to ponder about for Sarkisian. Burrell was announced on Tuesday to no longer be a member of the Texas Football program. He will officially enter the portal on Monday, the 15th. 14 1 1 Quote
Quinncent McManning, Jr. Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 It’s a shame as he’s got talent. Hope he can get his life together as he seemed like a good smart kid during the recruiting process. Definitely needs a fresh start. We’ve got plenty of stud recruits waiting in the wings as well 3 Quote

Got caught on the wrong end of a few bounces and now he is playing from behind the eight ball a bit. 8 Quote

Weino Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Liked him a lot as a recruit. Hope he learns from this and doesn’t make the same mistakes again elsewhere. Is he going to get charged? I don’t see how he doesn’t Quote

Burnt Orange Horn Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I wonder which "sports car" Dodge makes? The Viper has been out of production for several years. It is weird that Burrell's father would identify himself as a police officer. Little wonder UT athletics was perturbed. Quote

Game of the Century Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Leaving the scene of an accident for a driver in Texas is a crime and it’s likely he will be charged. It’s very unfortunate. But at least no one got hurt. Quote

Hate to hear this. I’m sure Sark has a zero tolerance in place for this kind of thing. It’s all about keeping your culture in place. 1 Quote

Not at all unusual for his Dad to self identify himself as a police officer when reaching out to another department in relation to a crime especially since it’s his son that is the subject. I’m sure his agency has a policy in this regard. Quote

Daniel Lovell Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 (edited) In a statement released by the school, UT coach Steve Sarkisian said that "We’re aware of the situation involving S’Maje Burrell and have suspended him indefinitely from all team activities for conduct detrimental to the program." horns96 Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Bobby’s emphatic comments on Bear Alexander make a lot more sense now😎 In all seriousness, sounds like we're all lucky this didn’t result in something a lot worse. Quote
