Following the dismissal of Ty'Anthony Smith, the question about Texas being in the market for one of these new portal linebackers has popped up.

Immediately, the one that comes to mind is reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, LB Trent Hendrick, who was one of the players recently granted a TRO to return to college football.

A decision is set to come this afternoon for Hendrick, and OTF has learned the Longhorns are not expected to be the pick. There was brief communication per a source, but nothing beyond that.

Look for UCLA to bring in a new linebacker when the decision comes.

More bad news on the board this is not going to end well Clay. First you hate on sark and arch and now this you might want to go into hiding

I should go into hibernation until February 1, 2027.

It makes sense. I don’t think Hendrick would come back to college to be a 2nd string LB. Don’t know much about UCLA but I’d assume he’d have a much bigger role there.

I would imagine you'd be correct. Price would also be in consideration given he was a CUSA DPOY.

Unfortunately, CJ is in the age group that thinks being super critical, sprinkled in with a dash of pessimism is the cool journalistic thing......... It will pass, but he is a long way from his 40's.

I don't understand the criticism of Cosmo Jaquan. He keeps it real.

I hope Texas doesn't add anyone else to be honest. I like the team they have right now. It's time to see who steps up internally.

This thread went from ‘Texas passed on Hendrick’ to ‘CJ is personally destroying the program’ in about eight seconds. Y’all treat portal updates like they’re FBI raids.

UCLA getting a linebacker, Texas didn’t need one, and half this board is acting like CJ stole their catalytic converter.

Clay’s getting blamed, Sark’s getting psychoanalyzed, and someone already told CJ to go into hibernation like he’s a disgruntled bear.

It’s August, it’s 107 degrees, and the heat has officially cooked the board’s brain cells. Hydrate, people. 😀

And honestly, the season can’t get here fast enough - at this rate we’ll have three more portal panics, a fake civil war, and somebody demanding CJ be traded to UCLA before kickoff even happens.

He’s solid for sure, I don’t about great yet when he got parents tagging him on social media like he not about that action. Now if John Mateer bounces back then all of what I said changes (although CJ hasn’t been talking about him this year like last year). Him and Paul Finnebaum (probably spelled his name wrong) have backed of their QB crushes too much imo.

This ^^^^. We all just ready for football season. This is the banter that happens before a national championship run imo.

I blame @Joe Zura for bringing out the pitchforks against Colonel Jarvis
