LSU is hedging Kiffins bonuses through Kalshi.

Their behaviour all offseason screams to me that they’re in financial trouble.

They are deathly afraid of Kiffin and Wade failing. If they don’t get the postseason revenue streams, to me it seems as if they’re royally screwed and they are behaving like that.

very interesting

A public school placing wagers in order to meet payroll. Man that is something.

Are they placing bets, or buying insurance?

Pro sports franchises buy insurance against injuries and player contract payout clauses, so I’m not sure this is really different.

At the end of the day, all that’s being done is insuring that if Kiffin wins the NC and LSU owes him $3M, they have the funds available to pay him the bonus he earned.

If LSU does NOT win the NC this year, then they don’t owe Kiffin the $3M, and these trades on Kalshi expire.  It sounds like cheap insurance.

Yeah it's just a hedge.  No idea what it costs, maybe 10% would sound right to me, but businesses do similar things all the time.

Dunno why guys here are so upset about it.  Not our circus and Lane's not our monkey.
