It’s one of the few ankle sprains that full immobilization is recommended for the first few weeks even in mild cases. They tend to be recurrent so with a freshman back of his caliber I would hope and expect the staff to be conservative. 4-6 weeks at best and maybe 8 if they are worried about chronic instability.
