Bunk Moreland Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This is a bit off topic, but it is enormously frustrating to see Keelon Russell as a true freshman dramatically outplaying Arch in his 4th year at Texas. It makes me think that Deboer is much, much better than Sark at either finding guys who can succeed in his system, or adapting his system to fit his QB’s strengths. Sark has never had a qb at Texas in the same ballpark as Penix, but that’s what Quinn and Arch were supposed to be. I don’t know if it’s a Sark issue or a Milwee issue. But Deboer makes them look like amateurs at QB development and maximizing his QBs’ talents. 9 1 Quote

Keelon's start definitely makes the QB development gap look rough, especially with Arch having so much more time in the program. Still feels early to write the whole book on Arch, but Texas needs the offense to stop looking this constrained. Quote

DeBoer has always had good to great play from the QBs and WRs he's coached during his coaching career as a head coach and offensive coordinator. 2 Quote

genevalonghorn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I think it is more likely that everything is chalk than there is any upset this weekend. Quote

Keelon went 16/23 188 yds 1TD 2 INTs (pick 6) with a QBR of 43. Not really about DeBoer/Sark because I agree with you but more so just pumping the breaks on Keelon with a 4 game sample sizes. 5 Quote

Simpson and so far Russell have both been great. I also question development at the position here. Two #1 overall rated recruits at QB who have not been on that same level. Fingers need to be pointed at Milwee more imo Quote

Fingers need to be pointed at Milwee more imo I think part of the issue is Sark is trying to make his QBs play like NFL QBs and doesn't build his system to their strengths, they have to learn his system the way he built it. Which is fine and dandy when you have a QB with those skills sets. Deboer, Kiffin, etc. utilize QB friendly systems with easy quick reads. Additionally, I think it was Bobby or someone who mentioned this morning that it doesn't seem like Arch can audible when he sees something the defense is showing. So basically if the defense called the right D, he's handcuffed. Sark does motions to see what the defense is going to be and then makes his play call; well today's defenses are advanced enough to show one thing and actually be something else. In essence, they could be baiting Sark into doing what they wanted him to do. My data points would be - when he runs out of choices and has to let Arch play backyard football with no huddle and quick reads. Arch seems to perform significantly better. 1 Quote

Sounds like he needs an OC 🫠 (beating a dead horse I know) 1 Quote
