McTexas7 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The last two that Sark has lost to OU it has been because of him playing to not lose. In ‘24 we had a 3rd and 9 in plus territory with less than two minutes to go. Quinn was 23 of his last 24. We ran the ball and kicked a field goal. This year we have a 4th and 2 or a 52 yard field goal. Trust your unit and play to win. You can’t win this game playing passive. You have to play to win or you get punished 1 1 Quote

hookem1014 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I see the 4th and 2 call two different ways. 1) You don’t get the 1st down, then you question why you didn’t let your kicker who historically has a big leg give you the lead 2) You miss the FG, and wonder why you didn’t just go for it and make sure you have the last possession after a 1st down I personally wanted to go for it, but I get the call either way. Hindsight is 20/20. 1 Quote
Neil Leininger Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It’s not 20/20. You go get two yards and run out the clock. If you don’t get the two yards you lose nothing in field position. Quote

He was in this exact same scenario in 2023 Red River and instead of going for the first down and having Bert Auburn kick a walk off field goal, he kicks the field goal and leaves a minute plus for Dillion Gabriel to march down the field and score the game winning touchdown. Can’t believe he made that same mistake again three years later. Edited 1 hour ago by LonghornFan4Ever Quote

But if Spetic makes the FG you can trust the only good unit on the field (the defense) to make a stop which they did on the following drive. Offense was terrible on converting short yardage today and Spetic is very capable of making that kick. There’s an argument for either option Edited 43 minutes ago by hookem1014 Quote
