Levester White Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Truth is, Steve Sarkisian offense has turned stale... As hard as it is to say, it seems dated. No QB audibles... What is this, Little League? The offense is degrading; Arch is degrading... because Sark will not let go. Sark comes off as a coach still riding the high of 2020 and has NEVER evolved his offense. Yes, Arch is shot, but it makes NO FREAKIN' SENSE why the O-line continues to suck. I think I'm accepting the fact that we are not very good because Steve Sarkisian is not evolving. After the script is done, he quits! He's being outcoached by FIRST-YEAR HEAD COACHES in the SEC with key players out! I'm sorry, I'm over it, over him... but looking back, it's a reason we lost to Washington 2 years in a row; it's a reason we lost to Georgia back-to-back seasons. Our offense has been exposed, and what we are trying to do is easily defendable. Sark is cooked, and because of that, Texas is cooked as long as he is the OC. Because he's not folding, cut ties if the season continues to tank. Winning looks easier for KENTUCKY! Sark has been Shawn Watson bad, with Charlie Strong incompetence, and Tom Herman stubbornness. Rocky P Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He is scheming players open and Arch isn't seeing it. if Arch had made half the throws that he should have, this offense would look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. 1 Quote
Red Five Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The offense is garbage and our QB is playing like garbage in the garbage offense. Also the OL is generally garbage. Now, how do you uncouple all of that and assign blame? At this point I have no idea, other than the guy in charge of the offense will probably be out of work soon. Quote

And there are equal amount of plays (in fact more but I’ll say equal to be conservative) where the plays are DOA because the defense knows how to manipulate the predetermined read or can completely blow it up via the blitz. DanielOnorato Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago He can preach toughness and physicality all he wants but Sarkisian is soft. He abandons the run and doesn't seem to communicate with his players for mid game adjustments well. 1 Quote

What plays specifically? How is the scheme at fault and not the players blowing assignments? I hear these general indictments about scheme and play calling, but I don't see the evidence. Yeah, a play doesn't work because a defense did a twist or blitz, but no scheme is going to stop that. The OL have to adjust and make the block. We should blame Sark for his lack of holding his players and coaches responsible and accountable for doing their jobs badly, but unless we can specifically show play call or scheme deficiencies, then we shouldn't make general indictments about the play calls or scheme. 1 2 Quote
Brho Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago When you don’t have a qb that can see the field or make the throws it’s going to make the offense look bad. Quote

William Gillean Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The running game has been in serious decline for years and that has nothing to do with Arch. Quinn was the 12th and last QB taken in that NFL draft after these other qbs Cam Ward (1) Jaxson Dart (25) Tyler Shough (40) Jalen Milroe (92) Dillon Gabriel (94) Shedeur Sanders (144) Kyle McCord (181) Will Howard (185) Riley Leonard (189) Graham Mertz (197) Kurtis Rourke (227) Not exactly a deep QB draft and that is also nothing to do with Arch. The interior OL has failed two years in a row and needed emergency roster surgery and that is nothing to do with Arch. I get Arch is playing bad but why do we think the passing game is bad BECAUSE of Arch when the rest of the offense is bad and nothing to do with him? Now could Lacey help? Maaaybe if he better fits the calls Sark always defaults to after the script. Play the best guy always. But hard to think Arch is the root cause. Quote

How much of that is on the offense and it's lack to execution? Not every play is going to work, especially when you have good DC on the other side that you are playing chess with. I still argue that if Arch wasn't so hesitant and pulled the trigger on these open receivers, the offense would look so much different. They have to respect those intermediate routes more, opening up deep shots. The short game would also be more affective allowing the offense to be in more manageable down and distance instead of behind the chains because of a sack or bad incompletions. I really think the bad QB play has put Sark in a tailspin calling plays. I bet if you go look at all of Arch's negative plays or incompletions, a majority will have someone he could have thrown it to and completely missed the read. Quote
mmdaytontexas Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago That was not a scheme issue. That was a blown assignment. The center completely ignored the blitzing linebacker standing right in the A gap and double teamed the 1 technique DT with the left guard. There is a view from behind the LOS on this play that shows that clearly. The LB slanted right across the 0 technique position and was never looked at let alone touched by the center. The only argument you might have here is that Sark doesn't have the zone read as part of this package, or Arch doesn't have a way to make adjustments at the line. But here again, maybe Sark doesn't trust Arch to run that zone read properly or make adjustments. Quote

Sarkisian: “We're not a huge just put it all on the quarterback to audible [team].” “We do change protections, and I think [Manning] manages those things well. When we have run-run checks and things of that nature, run-pass checks. I think those things are pretty defined. He does a good job with that.” from yesterday's press conference. sounds like not much autonomy there. I've been wondering if helmet coms have led Sark to deemphasize audibles over his directions perhaps? 1 Quote
