not taking it out you Jeff.  the whole injury designation thing is a a joke.

No offense taken. There’s a level of gamesmanship on those deals, for sure.

If I was as bad at my job as Jeff banks I would be athletic director rn

He doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore.

Penalties are an issue. That being said I cannot stand this officiating crew. Nobody in the SEC likes them, and worse yet the lead ref has an incredibly punchable face.

I’m sure I have a bias lens but that 3Q roughing the passer and then the PI in the end zone were bad calls, handed them 7 points.

Their efforts made Saturday’s win the first Texas game with a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver since Jonathon Brooks and Xavier Worthy did it against TCU on Nov. 11, 2023.

Thought Cojoe played very well for being thrown in for goosby. Also, that sack fumble for a td, I suspect arch’s clock wasn’t sped up yet because he usually doesn’t have to worry about the blindside.

Only team in FBS to beat 3x top 15 opponents.  It's easy to get down on them, but they can beat any team at any time.  They can also blow a lead like no other Texas team I've ever watched.

It’ll be interesting to see where we are ranked. While I think we should move up 7 (ahead of LSU, USC, Iowa, Tenn, TTU, Ole Miss, Houston), I think we will likely only move up 5 spots to 14.. I think they’ll keep TTU and LSU ahead. Maybe Ole Miss.

but ultimately ranking this week won’t matter too much

Just got home from the game.

First, the crowd was outstanding. Way louder than the Florida game. The fans in the stadium showed up.

Second, this team has an incredible ability to turn a comfortable situation into a blood pressure test. Every time it feels like we're about to put somebody away, we spend a quarter trying to revive them. That third quarter was brutal.

Third, I made the mistake of reading part of the game thread. Holy hell.

Some of you don't actually watch Texas football hoping Texas wins. You watch hoping your favorite complaint gets validated. The second something goes wrong, you're sprinting to the keyboard like you've been training for it all week.

Think about that. Texas wins, and your favorite part isn't the win. It's board politics.

That's when you know some people have completely lost the plot.

Criticize the coaches. Criticize the players. Criticize the third quarter. That's fair game. But if a Texas victory leaves you angry because it ruins your weekly doom-and-gloom routine, maybe you're more invested in being right than seeing Texas succeed.

The crowd in DKR sounded like they wanted Texas to win. A chunk of the game thread sounded like they were rooting for evidence.

The folks in the stadium were trying to help Texas win. The folks in the game thread were trying to win arguments they started three months ago. That's a pretty telling difference. 😏

Other than the fact this reads like it was assisted by ChatGPT, this community has a real knack for attracting self-righteous types.

Did this team show anything tonight that we can build off from? Did we see enough growth in this game from Arch Manning?

Looked like the same Arch to me. When Sark was calling short quick pass plays in the 1st half Arch was pretty effective but when Sark went back to slow developing deep pass plays in the 3rd Arch looked like the QB we saw against OU and Florida

Looking ahead, I am assuming life without Goosby and Coleman and Simmons and Hollywood next week.

The drop off to Cojoe and Zina/Vasek/Spence is not catastrophic, but Goosby and Simmons will truly be missed.

On the other hand, I think the starters may gain by Having Bishop in for Coleman.  With Moseley and Bishop on the field Texas has three guys who beg to be hit on the quick game, but still provide a deep threat - not a deep threat with as much potential as Coleman but three with a lot surer hands and better blocking.  Arch was perfect in the quick game in the first half and sticking with that opens up an occasional open deep opportunity.

The team has developed a fourth RB who is also a power back in Terry III.  I credit MT3 for great progress since he first moved to RB.  He gives me hope that Sark will be less reluctant to stick with the running game.  Mix a real running game with the quick passing game and don't go away from it until that occasional deep threat opens because the defense has adjusted, right?

If Cooper is healthy next week that would brighten the outlook for running coupled with the quick passing game even more.

I am not expecting great improvement on the toll penalties take on this team, at this point.

So, a mixed bag, but not without bright spots and positive scenarios.
