Waxahorn Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Unacceptable. Sad. Disappointing. Unsatisfactory. Unsuitable. Discouraging. Disheartening. Depressing. Something in our current model is clearly broken and needs to be fixed this offseason. Quote

We got a bunch of guys who want to give defenders butterfly kisses instead of guys who want to kill defenders. It’s amazing that no one has any pride in that room. I think it’s a strength thing. The disposition just exacerbates it. Lawrence must be a dud or we’d see him for baker. Or, one if the Coleman brothers.the juggernaut problem is baker and Roberson are “culture” guys so they’ll never be replaced. Coleman is nasty and that’s what we need to your point. He hasn’t been here long enough to get tamed. I’m actually a big fan of dark but I think his intelligence is crippling the athletes. He was to outsmart everyone versus leveraging far superior athletes. Get your 5 most athletic hosses, strip down the run game, and ask them to take out at the nearest body. 5 down and 6 to go . Make blitzers pay for dating to come forward, lol 2 Quote

Make blitzers pay for dating to come forward, lol I think this highlight 3 things for the program not just OL, and I too want Sark to break through. 1. Weird limited rotations and limited development reps. Doghouses and best player indecision into mid season. 2. Out thinking rather than having base fundamentals down then adding on riffs 3. Mean, heat seaking OL... not just enamored with big human traits. Our recent RB, WR, and TEs may be similar. Defense does not have that problem. Edited 2 hours ago by HookedOnTF 1 Quote
watty7796 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago IMHO this is an issue with multiple layers of issues. Peeling the onion back...lack of development particularly with GCG groups is first and foremost. Second is a finesse style of offense. Looks pretty but when it comes to Championship time you better be able to punch the opposing team in the mouth. Third is the acceptance of mediocrity along the OL. If it werent an acceptance of this...its really difficult to explain average or worse for several straight years. Fourth is are we recruiting the right guys. Not just big humans but does this dude provide the kind of punch we are looking for. And last but not least. Leadership is a real issue especially on the offensive side of the ball. Muschamp has done a really good job getting great production from multiple players through a myriad of injuries. Texas offense needs to either put up or shut up. Its pretty sad that the anchor of the team is a head coach dubbed an offensive genius with this poor of development at the QB position and inability to adjust and finish games through 4 quarters of quality ball. My point is that there os more than enough blame to pass around and have leftovers to dole out seconds. Texas has done a great job recruiting but havent turned those 5*s and high 4s into world beaters. Banks being the exception. Quote
HookemTexas Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Banks was the exception because he had the discipline to want to be great himself. I recall a story where Quinn (I think) came into the weight room while Banks was doing squats and made a joke and he said Banks just gave him this look that was basically "I'm working here, no time for jokes". We need some nasty on the Oline like Casey Studdard. There are times when I see Arch get popped and the defense talking crap to Arch and the Oline just looks at them and does nothing. Studdard and the old school linemen would have made sure those fools talking took some punishment. Quote
AusMOJO Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago I know people say Flood is good at T's but outside of Banks I just don't see it. Banks would've been great anywhere, imo. Maybe I'm wrong. But there does need to be some serious eval's into why that room is always a weak point. Is it S&C, is it Flood, is it Sark, is it the scheme? Combination of all? Who really knows. But it's obvious that something isn't working and hasn't been working all that well for a while;. Quote

Houston’s Naghavi is one I probably overlooked. Keane at Boise deserves a look too. No idea who would take it or who Sark would want. But looking at those numbers, I’m tired of hearing we just need bigger linemen or another recruiting class. We ought to be able to block Mississippi State. I think it depends on what Sark does with the offense. If you hire an OC/QB coach, they typically want their own guy for the OL. If he doesn't go that route which one of these fit with what Sark does offensively? Quote

To your point, there seems to be a lack of killer instinct. Mauling guys, etc. At least I've not seen it. Quote
