Bobby Burton
I always get asked how I would rank the Texas recruits within the recruiting class. I've been doing this for 20+ years now. I've gotten some right and some wrong. So don't take what I say or how I rank these players as the gospel. It's just another man's opinion based on what I've seen and what I've been told. 2024 Texas Recruits 1. WR, Ryan Wingo 2. Edge, Colin Simmons 3. S, Xavier Filsaime 4. OL, Brandon Baker 5. CB, Wardell Mack 6. OL, Daniel Cruz 7. RB, Christian Clark 8. TE, Jordan Washington 9. Edge, Zina Umeozulu 10. QB, Trey Owens 11. RB, Jerrick Gibson 12. OL, Nate Kibble 13. DL, Alex January 14. LB, Tyanthony Smith 15. CB, Kobe Black 16. WR, Parker Livingstone 17. S, Jordon Johnson-Rubell 18. DL, Melvin Hills 19. WR/ATH, Aaron Butler 20. CB, Santana Wilson 21. P, Michael Kerns 22. WR, Freddie Dubose Jr. (inj.) Note: I'm interested to see if Dubose heals further from his injury. I would rate him differently if I knew that for sure. goathumper
Surprised to see Wilson that low. Really feel good about that top 15 panning out
Robert Gilbert
I think if Parker Livingstone is fully healed he will have a very good career at UT. Maybe not All American or even All Conference but I believe he will be a plus player for the Longhorns during his time on the 40 Acres.
Ojeezy
Kobe Black that low is what jumps out most to me. But, I think it speaks more to the quality depth of the class.
TeeDoe
Interesting you have Clark over Gibson. I’d love to hear your thoughts on why.

He's smaller than Gibson but I just think he shows some feet in the hole that make him look a little special at times. I also love that he's a guy who had a crapload of tackles as a linebacker. I just think Clark is a straight baller, despite his size.

Depends on what kind of spring he has. If he's healthy, takes ball seriously, I think he'll play early and often. I don't think he'll start, but I think he'll get himself in the mix. He has something that Sark is going to want on the field and that no one else really gives him - speed combined with legit outside size. 4

Dubose is no scrub. The issue here is injury. Before his injury, I'm not sure if he isn't in top 5.

Not to bring up bad moments from 2023, but I wonder how much a taller WR would facilitate a different approach in RedZone scheme and available options.

I think we all believe that if DeBose is fully healthy he would be a plus contributor by at least his 2nd year on campus. Sirhornsalot
I would have Butler and Black much higher. Butler is going to be a star. Black was just too low for a kid who was once a 5-star.

Granted Bobby has more experience in this type of evaluation than all of us combined but he is not infallible, as he has said. However, I would tend to go with his opinion over my own observations. When it comes right down to it, this is a beauty contest. Do you like blondes or brunettes? Do you prefer size in a WR or speed? Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

I think its just as much on Sark trusting his QB not to turn it over so that we don't limit the targets to RPO inside and fade or whip to the pylon. That said... With the experience on the OL (and I hope increased nastiness at G with either Hutson or Neto hopefully taking over for Hayden at least on the GL) the run game should be able to finish drives inside the 3 with TDs and if that happens more regularly, the bootleg, or play fake to a stalk and go Helm/Niblack becomes deadly.

I am hoping to see some increased force and consistency on the OL. Especially on the left side. Banks & Neto should be good.
