Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is on the podium to discuss the Longhorns' victory over Florida and to also look ahead to Arkansas this weekend in Fayetteville.

Texas is currently the No. 3 team in the country with three games remaining in the regular season.

Texas women's soccer coach Ange Kelly is finishing up her press conference for media. 

The Longhorns just won the SEC Championship last night in year one of being conference members.

"Thats the thing here at The University of Texas, the standard is the standard."

Sarkisian opens up his presser by congratulating Coach Ange Kelly and the Texas Soccer team for winning the SEC Championship Sunday evening.

Sarkisian says he thought Texas played a fantastic first half of football.

"What I loved about it was our ability to play complementary football."

Sarkisian says Texas is the only team in the country in offense and defense (scoring, I believe) at the moment.

"It has been an onslaught on the football for the last month." Sarkisian says of his defense.

Sarkisian says he believed Trey Moore played his best game as a Longhorn.

Good to have both Bond and Mukuba back on the field.

Also a positive to see Jerrick Gibson back in the picture offensively. Gibson finished with 100 yards on 16 carries.

Sark says Arkansas is "built like most SEC teams."

Highlights Arkansas EDGE Landon Jackson who he calls a future first-round pick.

Sarkisian says Texas will go into this Arkansas game with a little better understanding of what is needed to go on the road emotionally and physically.

The Texas-Arkansas rivalry is a bit underrated says Sarkisian. However, he is not taking the rivalry lightly in the locker room and the team understands how important this game is.

"I don't know what Darrel Royal did to Arkansas back in the day, but they hate our guts."

Sarkisian says he wishes the rivalry got more play nationally.

Texas played 12 offensive linemen, 30 on offense in total and 34 on defense.

"To be able to play that many players in an SEC game, is pretty good."

Sarkisian says it was huge for the players to get coached off of what they were able to do rather than someone else at their position.

On RT Cam Williams and his injury scare on Saturday.

"Cam is good, he was back at practice today so I feel good about that."

Sarkisian says he feels like the team is "growing as the season has gone on."

Says the week of practice was really strong leading up to the Florida game.

Texas had 11 players on the roster vs. Arkansas in 2021. Nine of them are starters now.

Jaydon Blue said after the game this was the healthiest he has been all season.

"When your fast guys get to play fast, that's your strength."

 

Sarkisian lists off about 8 different offensive players he believes have elite speed.

Sarkisian says RB Jerrick Gibson has a football on him all day throughout The 40 Acres after fumbling on Saturday.

Sarkisian says the No. 1 stat in football is turnover margin. The team has an emphasis on winning the turnover margin and being the best in the country for the 2nd half of the season.

Sarkisian says one of the worst things you can do on the road, especially in a rivalry game, is to play emotionally.

Sarkisian on Trey Moore's impact: "He garners attention."

Moore does a great job running games off the edge (twists/stunts). Sark praises his awareness level and IQ on the field.
