Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted February 12 Moderators Share Posted February 12 Four-star WR Kelshaun Johnson locks in two official visits Hitchcock (Texas) High 2025 wide receiver and OnTexasFootball 4-star Kelshaun Johnson has locked in two official visit dates, and a third date could follow soon. Johnson, 5-11 and 165, told OnTexasFootball that he has official visits locked in for Penn State May 31-June 2 and Texas Tech June 7-9. The Nittany Lions have been all in on the Houston area speedy playmaker since offering June 21, 2023. That includes multiple FaceTime calls with head coach James Franklin. Texas Tech is leaning on teammate and good friend Lloyd Jones. Jones, 6-3, 210, committed to the Red Raiders November 4, 2023. Johnson told OnTexasFootball that he is also in discussions with Texas and Kansas about June official visits. The Longhorns' staff has mentioned the last weekend in June. That would be the big recruiting weekend for the Longhorns. The Longhorns offered Johnson June 11, 2023 after a standout camp performance. Wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, area recruiter Blake Gideon and head coach Steve Sarkisian have remained in constant communication since that time. He attended Texas Junior Day January 20, as well as Texas A&M Junior Day January 27. OnTexasFootball continues to feel like Texas is in a very good spot headed into the spring evaluation period. Johnson is up to 23 offers after Florida, Utah, Houston, TCU, Arkansas and UTEP in January. Johnson is currently on the hardwood for the defending 3A State Champions. He will focus on track after the conclusion of basketball season. He posted a personal best of 10.49 (wind-aided) in the 100 meters last spring. harveycmd
I must admit that hearing how some high school peckerwood is "in discussions" on whether he'll take an "official" visit leaves me cold. Far as I'm concerned, I don't care. I know that's not where the recruiting world is at, but it sure does make you long for the days when wannabes couldn't dictate millions of dollars. It's our fault for spending the money that creates the situation in the first place. I personally don't, but I'm not the whole.
BurntOrangeHorn
Do not want to say he is a must get, but he fits that description perfectly. Arch being his QB should help.

Along with Smith Orogbo from Hastings Texas really likes Kamauryn Morgan at Dallas SOC too.

I hope we get him in on the last weekend in June.

goathumper
Different level of speed. No surprise Tech and McGuire are going to try and take advantage of a talented year in state. I bet they have the highest rated B12 recruiting class again Besides Johnson, what WR target is Texas is the best spot for right now? Obviously it is still very early

Obviously it is still very early Marcus Harris if Texas makes big push. That's what so much depends on for me ... Tanook Hines - if they push in spring Emmanuel Choice - if they push in spring Jacorey Watson - if they push in spring Texas is in it for sure for Dakorien Moore. Working to catch up on Kaliq Lockett.
