Mike Gosnell Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 What are some of your favorite Christmas songs? White Christmas by Bing Crosby ranks up there for me but I have to go with Fairytale of New York by the Pogues 2 1 1 Quote

.45s Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 In general I prefer oldies and traditional, but I have a lot of Christmas albums and songs on my playlist and that includes a variety of genres. However, one that will never be on my playlist is that Mariah Carey song. 1 Quote
Burnt Orange Horn Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) My favorite Christmas carol album is one recorded at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC in 1942 by the Robert Shaw Chorale. Besides having traditionally great arrangements but in mono, it was recorded when the world was under great threat from the fascist Axis powers and the future of the world was quite uncertain. One can feel the hope emanating from the performance. It elevates the performance above the cutesy post war radio songs that became popular Christmas culture. The album has been out of print for over half a century, unfortunately. Edited December 24, 2024 by Burnt Orange Horn 1 Quote
