Shmatt
Hard to feel bad for a kid when he has everything offered to him and still is ungrateful for his opportunities. Wish the best of luck to him and I hope he can turn it around one day.

Everything came easy to me from grades to success on the feild. Then I tore my knee up and didn't have those opportunities that I was had. So at this point I'm angry and from every movie I seen the military is where I can get that anger out with little or no consequences. I fought my platoon so much in basic everyone avoided me, it wasn't until I challenged the biggest drill sergeant and oh boy did he give me the come to Jesus moment I needed. Later on in my career we ended up in the same battalion. Now I'm E-6(P) waiting on Congress for E-7 and he's already E-7. He laughed and said I knew for sure you'd be kicked out, and asked what changed. I told him that him kicking my a**, earning my respect, and building trust in something and someone. I'm not interested as much in the what as I am in the why. There's some deep seated issues there Cook has to face. At 20 I was already a squad leader and responsible for others. Johntay has to learn he can't do it alone and it's bigger than him before he can start to self correct. Thank you for your service to this country. I have numerous family members that were in the military. First thing they do is break you down. They don’t let you take it easy. There are consequences for your actions. Cook can’t change right away. He has to acknowledge his issues and work on them. 1

So much is what you said is true. I get it, for some fans we gave Cook the chance to be great and he blew it. So rightfully so, we as fans make fun of and ridicule him. At the same time, I'm more thoughtful. It's hard for me to think about where I'd be if everyone gave up on me. Would I be productive or a statistic? I'm not angel. I'm stood on the corner and poisoned my neighbors, I kicked in front doors on robberies, I've been in fights and shootouts with the otherside, but I was fortunate to have someone put their hand on my shoulder and guide me in a better direction. If I could tell J. Cook anything it would simply be I'm here if and when you need me without judgment. After all I don't take pleasure in seeing him fail, lol, I'll feel better rooting against him if he's successful. There's no honor in kicking someone when they're already down. 3

But is that the best way? Put yourself in his shoes, true, he and you aren't the same; but how we feel about him, is that how or what you'd want us to think about you? Somebody put their hand on your shoulder. When I was playing basketball and baseball growing up the coaches and families cared about us as kids. Now it’s more of a show me what you can do and then I will help you. People want to ride the coattails. Just a different time.

bierce
We'll probably never know the real reason behind Cook being dismissed from UDub in 2 days, but I have to wonder about it. Drugs in the dorm? Positive piss test? Fight with teammate? Punched a coach? What? Players don't disappear from a program in just 48 hours without cause.
