Update: Anthony Evans to Miss State

Georgia WR Anthony Evans will stay in the SEC.

After entering the portal earlier in the offseason, Evans became someone to monitor for the Longhorns as he checked off the boxes for speed and special teams ability.

However, the speedster from Judson, Texas, will be headed to Starkville to join Jeff Lebby's offense for 2025.

Don’t underestimate the value of retention. Knowledge of the system, especially at WR, is more important than bringing in the shiny new guy who can’t get on the same page as the QB.

Sark has brought in WR's every year he's been here with the portal (except year 1). I don't see that trend stopping. You have two guys with some experience and outside of that, a bunch of Fr and 1 year guys. Now I'm fine with leaving it like that, but we're always told that in the portal era you shouldn't be "inexperienced" anywhere.

@Bobby Burton @CJ Vogel We all know that Sark loves his speed WRs. There’s really nobody on campus in that Bond/Worthy mold and they’re not aggressively pursuing anyone like that in the portal. As you noted on the livestream tonight, they’ve suddenly brought in a bunch of bigger bodies. Do you think that Sark has watched his smaller, speedy receivers struggle to get open against more physical SEC defenses and made a philosophical change to emphasize bigger receivers for that reason?

Getting portal WRs Mitchell then Golden was uncommonly spectacular. Unfortunately, I don't see anybody that good for Texas in this portal window.

Returning WRs Moore will be in year 3 and Wingo will be in year 2. Both have WR experience and both are expected to start next season at Texas.

Unlike last season losing all 3 WR starters, we only have 1 clear opening at WR. We also have an opening at KR1 and PR1. Many assumed we would find 1 top portal WR but it is proving to be more difficult to find what we seek.

Texas should also have 6-8 competing at WR - Niblett, Livingstone, Butler, Dubose, Terry, Ffrench, Lockett, and McCutcheon. Looking forward to seeing them in the spring game.
