Saw him out there but only in the pullover Yes. He had surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. Schloss has said there’s no timetable for his return. 1 Quote

Definitely a lot more power than the past few years where it felt like LBJ was the only one touching 95+ with most the others under 90 Ruger might be my early favorite overall. Freshman Dylan V looked solid. Transfers from LSU and ND Moffett and Mercer were 98 and 97. Should be much improved 🤘 I agree. While it’s still early and we only got a small sample of what’s to come at least some of the question marks I had for the pitching staff were answered. Riojas, Moffett and Mercer were most impressive to me. Mercer looks to be a solid closer. Quote
cmk4pres Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Also Farmer needs to play, just not sure where and Stewart can rake Quote

The good thing with Farmer, for instance, is he can play any of the three outfield positions. 1 Quote

.45s Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I was generally impressed with the pitching and was surprised to see all of the new arms that could throw consistently in the mid-90s and Moffett in the high 90s. Howard pitched pretty well for awhile too. The pitchers overall looked pretty good and did a good job against the alumni. As mentioned above, several of the pitchers were fairly impressive. It looks like Stewart either lost weight or has been working out and redistributed it. He is a big guy but he did not seem as chunky yesterday compared to what he looked like in fall ball. He had a really nice double to left center. Several of the young position players stood out. Chamberlain looked really good, Rodriquez looked really good, Farmer is waiting in the wings and will probably play a lot. I did not get much of a feel for Winfield or Mendoza, although Mendoza did boot one. Galvan may have gotten an ear full after the game for a bad throw to first and for missing a foul ball way up the line that was not really his anyway. Oliver Service did not look particularly good catching and made some bad throws. Gasparino made a really good running catch to deep center with the sun in his eyes and later missed a leaping catch at the wall which from our seats was hard to tell if he should have caught it or not. Overall, they looked pretty good. Hitting should be good and there are more good arms this year. Hopefully control won't be an issue again. 2 Quote
