Bobby Burton Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Well, they're a favorite to make the playoffs until they're not. Anybody who has this guy in the lineup typically has a chance. Will likely depend on if pitching can hold up. 3 Quote

Bobby Burton Posted March 18 Posted March 18 BTW - it's not impossible that Alvarez could still be getting even better as a hitter. His strikeouts per at bat were way down last year despite a much higher AB number. 1 Quote

Bewarre Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I have a feeling our lack of depth in the minors and the loss of Breggy and Tucker will be too much to overcome. I like some of the additions but we're going to need previously injury prone players to not get injured this year to have a chance at another playoff run. Hope I'm wrong. Go Stros!!! Quote
4thandFive Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) As long as Texas finishes ahead when it’s all over. I’d like to take the West back this year. Edited March 18 by 4thandFive 1 Quote
Neil Leininger Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Cam Smith better be the opening day RF. He's a legit ROY candidate and if so, gives the Astros an extra pick next draft. 1 Quote
Roysterr Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I think they are an 85 - 88 win team. I think 7,8 & 9 in the lineups will be mostly outs. Not a strong division, need a a career year out of an average player. Quote

Moderators CJ Vogel Posted March 18 Moderators Posted March 18 My completely unbiased take is this – Altuve is washed, Bregman is gone. Astros are back battling with the A's for 4th in the ALW. Again, unbiased. 3 Quote

If Cam Smith makes the opening day roster I dont see a player like that in triple A Quote
4thandFive Posted March 18 Posted March 18 What do you who are actually fans think about Altuve in LF? Honestly. Quote
Neil Leininger Posted March 18 Posted March 18 3 minutes ago, 4thandFive said: What do you who are actually fans think about Altuve in LF? Honestly. He defense at 2B is awful. His offense can still make up for his defense in LF, the same can't be said at 2B anymore. Ideally, he's moved into his DH years, but the Astros already have the best DH in baseball. 1 Quote
4thandFive Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Has he ever played OF? And in your park (wish is was still MMP, we like to come down every year now) it might not hurt much, but what about when he’s playing in an actual LF with space? Quote

Also, I think we’re going to see more opponents trying to stretch a single to a double this season. Edited March 18 by Migas & Fajitas 1 Quote

Moderators Jeff Howe Posted March 19 Moderators Posted March 19 4 hours ago, Migas & Fajitas said: How do we get an extra pick? MLB instituted a Prospect Promotion Incentive for the 2024 draft. It rewards teams for advancing their top prospects instead of keeping them in the minors to prolong their arbitration clock. You get a pick if your prospect wins ROY or finishes in the top three for either the MVP or Cy Young before they're eligible for arbitration. 2 Quote
