Help me out.

As most of y'all know, I enjoy going down random rabbit holes from the previous season to get an idea as to why or how games or trends ended up the way they did.

I have some ideas for rabbit holes that will be coming out after spring ball.

  • 3rd quarter
  • opening drives
  • possibly red zone again

But let me know what other topics you would like to see explained. Anything on the defensive side of the ball will work as well.

Let me know what has always stuck on the top of your mind and I will get to researching.

3rd quarter would be awesome to know what the heck happened. I really feel like we had awful 3rd quarters all season long and personally it feels like every team we played that became a nail biter was because of the dreaded 3rd quarter.

How we match up in terms of returning production compared to OsU and our def schedule. While I know it's easy to find I mean in terms of projecting what replacements are capable of. Meaning not a "shoot the moon" scenario as well as the bottom, but a viable average.

if that makes sense.

Would love a deep dive on the effectiveness of the pony package.

I like that.

Rod has some remarkable numbers, but maybe I can find tendency for it to be deployed.. down and distance, effectiveness etc.

How about great Longhorn mysteries under Sark era.

2022  Why did we never have Roshon throw one halfback pass? (He was a high school QB)

2024   We never did the jump pass with Manning on short yardage or goal line.

How many people here think against OH ST, 1st & goal at the one , we bring in Manning & he does jump pass, TD 85% OF THE TIME!

Word is Manning got a little dinged up and was unavailable for the 1st & goal from the 1 vs. tOSU.

I would also like to know what happened in the third quarter. That 25% of a game resulted in 90% of my drinking and swearing.

Hahaha.

I bet that is the similar case for the majority of this board.

Maybe the deep dive will be Bobby's heart rate in each 3rd quarter.

Why the f*** we didn’t use Manning more especially to help kick start the running game against Georgia in Atlanta and pOSU in Dallas?

How NASCAR package did against the run, and can we deploy it in more situations?

I like that idea as well.

Average opposing safety depth/alignment last season.  It felt like due to our struggles running the ball, teams we able to play 2 high safety and take away the middle of the field, exacerbating issues for Quinn.  Will teams approach Arch similarly if there's a similar struggle to run, attempting to counter his deep threat?  Arch's running ability probably helps to counter this tendency.  But would be curious to know.

Really enjoy these deep dives! A few ideas that come to mind:

- Sarks play calling at Washington with Jake Locker at QB: any tendencies he had, how he utilized the QB run game, etc.

- Evolution of PK's play calling over the past 4 years: % blitz and how it's deployed (situationally by down & distance and type of blitz), press man / zone concepts

- Performance of first 2-3 offensive drives to open each half

Thanks for all you do!

Opportunities to extend the lead.

It seems like that's a real difference maker for winning teams. Stretching the lead by an additional score at as many opportunities as possible. If you're up by 7 and go 0-3 on the next 3 drives, that's a huge failure to me. Make that lead 21+ points and put in the dagger.

How we went from Bijan/Rojo era to rushing for 29 total yards and 1.1 YPC against Georgia in October, 31 total yards and 1.1 YPC against Georgia in December, and 58 total yards and 2.0 YPC against Ohio State in January.

Sounds like you and Kyle Umlang should get together.  That guy can crunch some crazy numbers (to the aggie's detriment).  I'm sure you guys would go far down some rabbit holes in stats.

1 - name your 5 most valuable starters, then tell how we develop their backups to still win in case of injury

2 - revisit what was wrong in the secondary pre GP, and why there won't be a learning curve this year. Factors beyond dominant edges, Akina + Nansen history - what's the key to the PK defense to keep holding opponents under 20
