Former University of Texas golfers led after all four rounds - yes, Jhonattan Vegas (who led the first two rounds) was a Longhorn golfer in the early 2000's after immigrating from Venezuela.

Worth mentioning that the softball team won 9-0 to advance to the Super Regional as well.

Jordan Spieth has won the Masters and US Open (2015) and the British Open (2017).  He is listed as born in 1993 so he was well under 28, right?

I think Rory McElroy had four by that age (not going to look it up, but sounds right).

That stat should also include winning 15 tournaments and three majors before 28. Those aren’t the only ones to win three majors before 28 .

I don't think I ever saw someone so completely demolish the competition on the last day of a major on a day when he couldn't hit a single fairway on the front nine.

Thinking a bit about this I thought several others had done it so did a little research.  Here are a couple of lists, copied from this article

If we focus only on 1900 and after, here are the youngest golfers to win a third major: (ten guys)

    21 years old — Gene Sarazen
    23 years old — Jack Nicklaus, Jordan Spieth
    24 years old — Tiger Woods, Bobby Jones
    25 years old — Rory McIlroy
    26 years old — Seve Ballesteros, Gary Player, Peter Thomson
    27 years old — Tom Watson

Here are the youngest players to win three majors since 1934 (seven up to age 26, including current players Spieth (2nd youngest) and McIlroy)

    Jack Nicklaus, age 23: Nicklaus' third major was won when he was 23 years old, at the 1963 PGA Championship. He'd previously won the U.S. Open in 1962 (also his first PGA Tour win) and The Masters in 1963. He went on to win 15 more majors for a total of 18.

    Jordan Spieth, 23: Less than a week from turning 24, Spieth won the 2017 British Open for his third. Having already won Masters and U.S. Open titles, Spieth thus joined Nicklaus as the only golfers to win three different pro majors before turning 24. Spieth is still searching for his fourth.

    Tiger Woods, age 24: The 2000 U.S. Open (the one Tiger won by 15 shots) was Woods' third win in a major. He'd previously won the 1997 Masters and the 1999 PGA Championship. He went on to win 12 more majors for 15 total.

    Rory McIlroy, age 25: Having previously won U.S. Open and PGA Championship titles, McIlroy notched major victory No. 3 at the 2014 British Open. Just a few weeks later he added his fourth with another PGA crown, but he's been stuck on four major wins since that year.

    Seve Ballesteros, age 26: Seve just missed getting his third while still 25. He won the 1983 Masters two days after turning 26. He won another two after that for five total.

    Gary Player, age 26: The Black Knight won his third major at 26, as well, but was older than Seve. Player was 26 years, 8 months old at the time he won the 1962 PGA Championship. He went on to win another six majors, giving him nine total.

    Peter Thomson, age 26: Thomson was about a month shy of his 27th birthday when he won his third Open Championship title in 1956. He won five total, all at The Open.

One more quote from the sporting press about the near-historic run of golf Scottie is on, this from the Athletic.  This puts it in perspective (as many PGA wins since the run began as players #2,3,4 and 5 combined?  Crazy)

Scheffler’s play since 2021 is golf’s most dominant stretch since Brooks Koepka’s four major wins in eight tries from 2017 to 2019. The difference is Koepka didn’t bother winning outside those majors. Scheffler? He has 12 non-major wins since 2022, including two Players Championships.

At the risk of belaboring the numbers, and the absurdity, Scheffler’s 15 total individual PGA Tour wins since his first (2022 WM Phoenix Open) are as many as those of Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas — the official world golf ranking’s Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 players — combined.

The only other players to win so much, so early? Tiger Woods (1996 to 1999) in 3 years, 32 days, and Jack Nicklaus (1962 to 1965) in 3 years and 45 days. Scheffler has done it in 3 years, 94 days.

I looked it up one time and at the pace he’s winning tourneys now he may end up with most tourney wins all time. As far as majors it will take a lot to catch Jack and Tiger.
