Signed RHP Hayes Holton out of Independence LA, he's a 6'3" 180# kid with a fastball that tops out around 97 or so. He plays on the older national team that my son plays on. I've seen him throw and he's legit. He's gonna probably end up around 205#'s or so and should be flirting with 100 by spring.

Holton is a '26 new commit who recently decomitted from Miss. State after the coaching change.

Really solid addition.

1.260 OPS guys don’t grow on trees.

24 doubles, 16 homers, 15 stolen bases. Love it

Doesn’t swing outside the zone alot either 🙏

OPS of the bats picked up out of the portal so far:

Maroknek : 1.145 OPS in 218 at bats

Freeman : 1.270 OPS in 190 at bats

Livingston : .958 in 211 at bats

Can’t help but notice that these are really quality guys. May not be the top players in the portal but these are excellent pieces to a Mendoza, Jonah and A-Rod core already. If we retain Galvan and Flores, can’t help but be super excited.

Flower Branch HS -> North Georgia -> St John’s River State -> Auburn -> Georgia State -> Texas

I’m thinking one of his strengths is adaptability to new circumstances

Where did you get the information about not swinging outside the zone?  I checked the Georgia State stats and he led the team in Ks.  That usually means chasing pitches.

He also broke the record for most walks in a season

Thanks.  I checked some of the other stats and he had a boat load of walks- even more than his Ks.  That is a good sign.

I should point out that we had no starters that came close to having more BBs than Ks.

I read his scouting report before I looked at his statistics and jumped the gun a little bit lol
