Purplehorn3 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Camp Waldemar Camp Waldemar is a girl’s encampment along the banks of the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. In the spring of 1984 I was a sophomore in high school playing football and track.  One day after practice our QB, a guy named Matt Burns stopped me in the parking lot at school and invited me to a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) a ministry aimed at players, coaches and officials in the athletic world.  I went to the meeting and soon became involved in a Bible study. A few weeks later I signed up for an event called “Weekend of Champions” to be held at Camp Waldemar. My school took about 8-10 athletes and it was to change my life.  The last night there, along the tranquil banks of the Guadalupe River, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.  Our camp counselors included college athletes including two from the University of Texas (OL Greg Wright and Punter John Teltshick).  Both of them prayed with me, which was an awesome experience since they were teammates with my brother Russell. Teltshick would become an All-American and spent several years as the punter for the Philadelphia Eagles. Yesterday when I heard of the tragic events in the hill country, it made me think of that special moment in my life. I continue to pray for the families that have lost so much.  Jesus please embrace and welcome those little children who were lost Amen 12 Quote
